Job description

Position Summary

The Mechanic supports mechanical service andretrofitwork by performing sheet metal modifications/installation and mechanical piping tasks including gasket replacement, valve replacements, flanged couplinginstallationand torquing, and strict Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) execution. This role works safely, follows job specifications and torque requirements, and produces high-quality work in mechanical rooms, rooftops, and active jobsites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform sheet metal modification and installation to support mechanical equipment, ducting interfaces, and field-fit needs.

  • Remove and replace pipe gaskets; prepare flange faces, alignflanges, andverify proper fit-up and sealing surfaces.

  • Complete chiller valve replacements (isolation support, removal/replacement, reassembly, and operational checks per job requirements).

  • Install flanged pipe couplings andhardware;torque tospecificationusingappropriate toolsand documented torque requirements.

  • Execute LOTO:identifyenergy sources, isolate equipment, apply lockout/tagout devices, and verifyzero-energystate per procedure.

  • Read and work from job documentation (drawings, specs, work orders) to complete tasks correctly the first time.

  • Maintain a clean, safe work area; use PPE; follow all safety policies and jobsite rules.

  • Communicate job status, material needs, and field issues to the supervisor/foreman; document completed work asrequired.

  • Use andmaintaintools and equipment properly, including torque wrenches and standard mechanical hand/power tools.

  • Support troubleshooting and basic mechanical service tasks within your skillset; escalate issues when needed.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in mechanical service, piping, HVAC mechanical, plumbing, or industrial maintenance

  • Workingknowledge of:

  • Flanges, gaskets, valves, and mechanical connections

  • Proper tool use including torque tools

  • Jobsite safety practices and hazard awareness

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work safely in active job environments.

  • Must be able to travel to construction sites as needed

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to understand oral and written instructions; effective verbal communication.

  • Compliance with company dress code and appearance standards.

  • Visual acuity for reading smallprintandidentifyingdetails on equipment and drawings.

  • Frequent standing, walking, sitting, and use of hands for handling materials and tools.

  • Ability to lift and move up to 50lbsfrequentlyand over long distances (30+ feet).

  • Comfortable working at heights over 30 feet and climbing ladders or stairs.

  • Ability to bend, kneel, and work in confined spaces; perform repetitive motions as needed.

  • Work in varying weather conditions and environments.
