Job description

Turn electrical schematics into finished products that power real-world applications! As a Panel Technician, you'll build and wire custom industrial control panels and OEM equipment alongside a team committed to quality and craftsmanship.


Full-time, on-site.

Monday - Friday. 7 AM - 3:30 PM.


Panel Technician Primary Function

  • Build and wire custom industrial control panels as well as OEM products as assigned by the Panel Shop Supervisor, within schedule provided.


$18 - $22/hour

Panel Technician Essential Responsibilities

  • Build Custom Industrial Panels and OEM products meeting delivery dates
  • Work independently with the project folder and design schematics to complete your responsible job.
    • Account for parts required for the job
    • Mechanically layout and mount hardware components.
    • Wire complete panel in accordance with PFT panel procedures, UL508A specifications, and other best practices as given by the panel shop supervisor.
  • In large project situations work with other technicians in a team effort
  • Test Custom Industrial Control Panels and OEM Products
  • Point to Point wire tests in accordance with PFT testing procedures
  • Torque check and marking in accordance with PFT procedures
  • Be able to perform and fill out the PFT Panel Final Check list
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area at all times
  • Organize and maintain shop tools and equipment
  • Organize and maintain personal tools
  • Organize and maintain your project items and materials
  • Help maintain common shop supplies IE Labels, wire ties, wire, etc.
  • Assist Apprentices and other Technicians in techniques and procedures


Panel Technician Necessary Qualifications

  • Basic Knowledge of Electrical Theory
  • BOCES Electrical or AS in an Electrical Technology Field preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
  • Must be able to follow and understand the PFT Shop Guidelines
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals
  • Ability to work with other Technicians and Apprentices in a professional manor
  • Competent with the use of hand tools, i.e. jigsaw, drills, wrenches, screwdrivers
  • Competent with the use of electrical test equipment, i.e. Multi meter
  • Valid and Clean Driver's License


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for up to 8 Hours
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to work on elevated platforms
  • Ability to climb ladders
  • This position may require standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching and/or reaching
  • You may be exposed to dust, loud noises, and hot and cold conditions
  • Good hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills may be required for hand tools, power tools, and other machinery


Candidates need a clean and valid driver's license to operate company vehicles.
