Kitchen Designer In-Home Sales

Art of Drawers Salt Lake

Salt Lake City, UT โ€ข On-site

$80 - $120/hr

Job description

Benefits:
  • Commission Sales

You'll design in someone's kitchen. You'll open every cabinet, take the measurements, learn how the family actually cooks and lives, then draw two or three options and price them out with them at the counter.
There's a moment where a homeowner realizes the thing that's bugged them for a decade is actually solvable, and you get to be there for it several times a week.
Art of Drawers builds custom pull-out drawers and storage for the cabinets people already have. Our designers come from design, real estate, retail, restaurants, and plenty of places that aren't sales at all. No design degree required.
What The Job Looks Like

A design visit runs one to three hours. You'll measure, work out what fits where, design two or three solutions, and present them with the homeowner on the spot. You never install. Our Art of Drawers certified installers handle every job.
Early on, your appointments come from people you already know and the introductions they give you. Company leads turn on once you're certified.
What You Get

  • Uncapped Commission, 1099: No base and no hourly, which also means no ceiling. You're an independent contractor, and your schedule is yours.
  • Two Levers, Both Yours: You earn more on customers you find yourself, and any discount you give comes out of your commission. Work both and the math moves quickly.
  • Monthly Bonuses: Based on performance, on top of commission.
  • Flexible Schedule: Work the days you want (e.g., Tuesdays - Thursdays)
  • Mostly Field Work: 90% client homes, 10% home office (no standing behind a counter all day)
  • Fast Hiring: We respond to qualified applicants within 24 hours
What You'll Do

  • Learn how a family actually uses their kitchen before you recommend anything
  • Measure, then design two or three options and price them out together, in the home
  • Build a client base you follow up with, not a territory you move through
  • Ask every happy client who else should see this
  • Run your own calendar and keep your own pipeline full
Who Does Well Here

  • You like the puzzle. Cabinet depths, corner units, and what actually fits where is a problem you'd enjoy solving.
  • You ask more than you pitch. Our best designers talk less than the homeowner does.
  • You can say the price out loud and be comfortable in the silence after it.
  • You'd rather run a proven script for the first 90 days than improvise from day one.
  • You already have a sense of who your first ten calls would be.
  • You have your own phone, computer, printer, and a reliable car.
Where You'll Be In 90 Days

Certified, running your own paid company appointments, and building toward the top commission tier. Most designers reach certification in their first month. From there the training keeps going: 3D design, advanced quoting, and reps with me.
What To Know Going In

  • This is commission-only from day one, including while you're training. Plan for a ramp.
  • Your first five practice appointments come from your own network. Some people love that part, some don't.
  • We hold our price, and discounts come out of your own commission.
Read that and still interested? You're probably who we're looking for.
Our Hiring Process

I'm the owner and I do every interview myself, so the video is how I get to know you quickly and get you an answer fast. It also means no taking time off work for a screening call, and nothing to schedule.
  • Step 1, Apply: Right here. Takes about 5 minutes.
  • Step 2, Record a Short Video: I'll text you three questions you answer with one video from your phone, under 4 minutes, whenever suits you. In a hurry? Text APPLY to 801-899-0239 and I'll send the questions over, usually same day and always within 24 hours.
  • Step 3, Talk to Me: If it's a fit, we set up a 1:1 call, and it's with me. That's where we go through the numbers in detail.
  • Step 4, Get Started: Agreement, hands-on training with me, and five practice appointments before you're running paid leads.
We're hiring 3 designers and moving fast.
