Job Description:
The Commission Territory Manager is responsible for growing volume, profitability, and account performance across an assigned geographic territory. This role combines relationship management, operational support, merchandising oversight, and business development within commission retail locations. The Territory Manager serves as a field-based partner to store operators and managers, driving execution of company programs, maximizing product availability and presentation, and identifying opportunities to increase revenue. Success in this position is measured by territory growth, account retention, operational consistency, and commission-based performance results. The Retail Commission Territory Manager is expected to maintain a thorough understanding of each contract and the responsibilities of each Commission Manager within the assigned territory. This role also includes educating Commission Managers on their contractual and operational responsibilities and ensuring compliance with all applicable contract terms.
Responsibilities:
  • Sales Growth & Territory Development:
    • Develop and execute a territory plan to achieve sales, margin, and commission targets.
    • Identify new business opportunities, open new accounts, and expand sales within existing locations.
    • Monitor sales trends, competitor activity, to adjust territory strategy and improve performance.
    • Enforce Contractual Compliance.
    • Qualify prospective Commission Managers through candidate evaluation and financial analysis
    • Negotiate contract terms and conditions
      • Prepare contract proposals for management approval
      • Submit approved contract proposals for contract preparation
  • Customer & Store Relationship Management:
    • Build strong working relationships with store managers, and key account contacts throughout the territory.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for account support, issue resolution, and ongoing business reviews.
    • Conduct regular store visits to evaluate execution, identify opportunities, and support account growth.
  • Merchandising, Inventory & Operations:
    • Ensure fuel surveys are completed at least twice a day every day and that all stores are priced competitively.
    • Maintain Store hours of a minimum open for 18 hours, seven days a week.
    • Ensure all employees are in uniform and deliver friendly customer service.
    • Partner with store teams to ensure the site is clean , well maintained, full, and well merchandised.
  • Reporting & Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Prepare regular territory updates, sales forecasts, activity reports, and account performance summaries.
    • Use performance data and field feedback to recommend actions that improve territory results.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Marketing, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered
  • 3-5 years of experience in, account management, retail operations, or a related field, preferably within convenience, retail, foodservice, or consumer packaged goods.
  • Demonstrated success meeting or exceeding sales and performance goals.
  • Working knowledge of convenience store operations, merchandising practices, and inventory controls.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple accounts, prioritize territory needs, and work independently in a field-based role.
  • Comfort using Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to analyze sales information and translate insights into action plans.

Other Requirements:
  • Willingness to travel frequently throughout the assigned territory.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Flexibility to respond to urgent business needs outside standard business hours when necessary.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
  • Ability to travel.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and move items, such as merchandise or cleaning supplies.
  • Object weight is dependent on size of store and inventory. Maximum 50 lbs, frequently 10-25 lbs.
  • Frequent walking.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, reach, and twist to restock or organize shelves, as needed.
  • Ability to handle emergency situations.
  • Ability to work a schedule that allows for continuous availability. Including outside of standard business hours, to effectively respond to urgent situations and maintain round-the-clock coverage.
