Title: Householder (Residential)

Title: Co-Householder (Non-Residential)


Job Description:

As a Heartbeet Householder or Co-Householder, you will be expected to manage and support the house team in all managerial tasks as well as assist "Friends" or individuals with developmental disabilities in all aspects of their daily life. You will be caring for all of the Friends personal, social/emotional, and behavioral care needs. You will also be responsible for managing all of the administrative functioning for the Friends - ranging from medication tracking to required monthly and annual notes and reports. On top of caring for the Friends, our Householders are also responsible for managing and mentoring the Volunteers and other Caregivers in the home, ensuring that each of them has the opportunity to learn and grow during their time at Heartbeet. They are also expected to manage the Household Budget and all other household needs. Lastly, Householders are asked to run/participate in one or more of the crew spaces throughout the week (vocational skill building spaces) to help the Friends grow and cultivate new skills.

Roles & Responsibilities

You will be provided training and guidance to enable you to perform the following tasks, not limited to:

  • Assisting with Personal/Hygiene Care
  • Offering Physical and Emotional Support
  • Creating Social Opportunities
  • Promoting Social Harmony
  • Facilitating All Medical Care Needs
  • Participating in Recreational Activities
  • Performing Household Tasks (cooking, house-cleaning, and laundry, etc.)
  • Participating in Residential and Vocational Activities
  • Managing Household Budgets
  • Running/Participating in Crews
  • Maintaining Records


Roles & Responsibilities - Health and Safety 

Ensure well-being and safety of staff and Friends by being knowledgeable of, and consistently adhering to, relevant Vermont TCR (Therapeutic Community Residence) regulations, including:

  • Ensuring that homes are clean and safe and provide recommendations concerning repairs, maintenance, renovations or improvements as appropriate
  • In cooperation with the Director of Licensing and Compliance, supporting investigations of any home-based accidents and ensuring completion of incident reports as required
  • Ensuring that the Heartbeet Health and Safety Policies and Procedures are effectively implemented in the home


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

The ideal candidate will have experience working with others, along with:

  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Self motivated and driven with the ability to organize and complete tasks
  • Willingness to accept supervision, coaching, and guidance from others

  • Reliable and able to adapt to changing conditions
  • Direct experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities (preferred but not required)


Qualifications

  • 18+ Years of Age
  • High School Diploma (or equivalent)
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License
  • I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification 
  • Must pass required Background Checks for position
