This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of DOD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: This is a military technician position with the 88th Readiness Division, Area Maintenance Support Activity 138, located at Fort Sheridan, Illinois.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Tools and Parts Attendant ~ without more than normal supervision. To meet the screen out element, applicants should document experience or show the ability to do the following: Identify equipment or tools for intended use, maintain inventory levels, or perform minor maintenance on equipment or vehicles. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
  • PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work is performed on hard surface and in work areas that require standing, stooping, bending and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Attendant frequently lifts and carries tools, parts, supplies and equipment weighting up to 40 pounds. Hand trucks, dollies and forklifts (4,000-15,000 lbs.) are available for use in handling heavier items.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS: Works in storage area which is well lighted, fairly clean, and well heated but occasionally drafty and noisy. There is some possibility of minor cuts and bruises.
