Job description

Full-time Competitive Salary & Benefits
Rada Manufacturing is seeking a Toolroom Machinist to join our onsite tool room and help us continue to build high-quality American made cutlery. In this role, your daily focus will be hands-on: utilizing manual machining, precision grinding equipment, and working extensively with casting molds to support our manufacturing operations. You will make critical contributions to our company's production efficiencies and capacities by ensuring consistent, high-quality, and correct parts.
Since 1948, Rada Mfg. Co. has been an icon in the Cedar Valley, producing high-quality kitchen cutlery and accessories. We are a team that values dedication, collaboration, and craftsmanship. We are looking for a reliable, skilled machinist to maintain current toolroom operations, troubleshoot production tooling, and bring strong technical problem-solving to our manufacturing floor.
What You'll Do:
  • Operate toolroom equipment: Spend the majority of your day utilizing manual mills, manual lathes, and surface grinders to fabricate, repair, and modify parts to precise tolerances and finishes.
  • Maintain casting molds and tooling: Work extensively on the upkeep, troubleshooting, repair, and modification of production casting molds, stamp dies, and fixtures.
  • Read blueprints: Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and part prints to independently determine specifications and plan your manual machining setups.
  • Support occasional CNC workflows: Assist the production team with basic setups or monitoring on our CNC machine when needed, using existing programs (heavy programming or software modeling is not a daily task).
  • Document workflows: Keep clean records of actions taken and parts or mold components created for recurring-use items.
  • Maintain safe operations: Strictly adhere to safety procedures, equipment maintenance schedules, and toolroom cleanliness.
  • Collaborate with production: Work independently within the tool room while collaborating effectively with the broader manufacturing team to keep lines running smoothly.

Requirements
Who You Are:
  • Experienced Manual Machinist: You have proven, hands-on experience safely setting up and operating manual lathes, mills, and precision surface grinders.
  • Mold & Tooling Background: You have direct experience working with casting molds, tool and die setups, or die maintenance.
  • Detail-Oriented Craftsman: You have strong attention to detail, a passion for precision, and the ability to hold tight tolerances.
  • Independent Problem Solver: You possess the critical thinking skills to troubleshoot mechanical issues, fix mold wear-and-tear, and handle fabrications on the fly without needing constant direction.
  • Team Player: You are organized, committed to meeting production deadlines, and work well in a collaborative manufacturing environment.

Why Join Rada?
  • American Craftsmanship: Be part of a brand with over 75 years of heritage and a deep connection to the Cedar Valley community.
  • Stability & Growth: Work in a steady environment where your physical trade skills are highly valued, respected, and crucial to our daily operations.
  • Excellent Benefits: Competitive salary and a generous benefits package that includes health insurance, paid time off, a 401(k) match, custom schedules and more.
