Job description

Overview

As a Toolpusher you will manage and direct rig operations during assigned shift to ensure maximum drilling efficiency and performance.

Responsibilities

What role will you play on our team:

Ensures the safe and efficient operation of the drilling rig and full compliance with all mandatory company, client, state, and federal rules and regulations.

Guarantees well control requirements are in place according to operational requirements; assists in supervising well killing operations in an emergency situation.

Attends pre-spud meetings and takes note of all well related hazards and ensures they are managed appropriately.

Initiates changes to the pre-agreed program when and as required, to protect personnel, environment, equipment and the well.

Leads the well control team at the drilling rig in conjunction with the senior personnel, including the acting Drilling Superintendent.

Confirms completion of all preventative maintenance activities and projects in a safe, timely, and efficient manner.

Supervises equipment preparation for impending drilling operations.

Ensures the Driller and Drilling Superintendent of each tour are provided Standing Instructions relevant to planned operations.

Maintains and ensures adequate rig supplies and spares.

Directs rig down/rig up activity.

                                                    

Manages two subordinate who supervise a total of 10 employees in the Drilling Rigs department.

Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units.

Directly supervises 10 non-supervisory employees.

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Other responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

About you

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a minimum of seven years experience as a Toolpusher

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.                                                     

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.                                                          

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.  To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Blowout  Prevention (BOP) certificate, Driller's level

Your work schedule:

  • Must be able to work up to 12.5 hours
  • Must be able to work overtime when needed
  • Rotation Schedule 7 days on and 7 days off (night & day shifts)
  • Hours and schedule may vary based on operational tempo
