Job description

Your Mission
Provides standard and specialized tooling to personnel in coordination with future jobs and tooling life schedules. Provides quick response replacement tooling for unexpected
tooling needs. Maintains tooling inventory from receipt, issuance and return.
How you will make a difference
  • Perform all duties of Tool Crib Attendant in addition to:
  • Provide guidance (technical or other) to tool crib attendant (s) as required.
  • Read and interpret blueprints including tool drawings and specifications.
  • Analyzes work orders/process cells to determine proper tooling for the job/machine per Methods
  • Manage too regrind program.
  • Work with tooling integrator & outside tooling vendors to ensure best purchased tooling options for machining applications and competitive pricing are achieved.
  • Maintain tooling database, tooling locations and inventory using Zoller TMS ( Tool Management Solutions ) Software package.
  • Use SAP to create purchase requisition for new tooling and regrind program.
  • Provide Inventory & cost reports using Excel.
  • Provide support / training to tool crib attendant.
  • Maintains 5S initiatives within workplace.
  • Take lead role in tool testing initiatives and projects.
  • Provide documentation and presentations.
  • Tool & fixture design as related to plant tooling specialist function using Autocad Inventor.
  • Plant layouts and various drafting assignments utilizing Autocad 2D drafting package.
  • Work closely with other departments such as engineering, methods, quality and maintenance and support them with information if requested.
  • Interact directly with outside tooling specialists and tool manufacturers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you should be good at
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
  • At least 5 years tool sharpening / cutter grinding experience, or other suitable manufacturing experience.
  • At least 2 years purchasing experience.
  • At least 2 years inventory control experience
  • At least 15 years of experience working in manufacturing environment including tooling for metal cutting operations in CNC and manual turning, milling, grinding and various other equipment.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills.
  • Proficient use of email, Microsoft Office including Word, and Excel, Power Point.
  • Some experience 2D & 3D modeling packages would be advantages
