Description
Elevate Solutions Group is a rapidly growing provider of Custom Plastic Injection Molding and Integrated Supply Chain solutions. Strategically located just outside the Atlanta Metro area (Austell), the company has evolved from a niche market provider to an industry leader with state-of-the-art technologies for manufacturing. We are seeking a skilled Injection Molding Tool Maker to join our team as an onsite, hands-on owner for operational upkeep between the hours of 7am - 3:30pm, Monday through Friday. The Injection Molding Tool Maker is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, and fabrication work on injection molds and related tooling. This role requires expertise in toolroom machining processes, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in partnership with production to support continuous manufacturing operations.
Overview and Responsibilities
• Perform repairs, rebuilds, and preventive maintenance on injection molds to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
• Perform toolroom tasks using manual machining equipment including milling machines, surface grinders, lathes, and standard tool shop tools.
• Utilize knowledge of mold designs and mold changeovers to support production needs and reduce downtime.
• Split molds, identify failure modes, and proactively diagnose and correct issues that may have occurred or could impact future performance.
• Work closely with production teams at the injection molding press to identify root causes of tooling-related issues and support real-time troubleshooting.
• Understand and perform tasks related to hot runner systems, including valve gates, hot drops, and wiring repairs when necessary.
• Apply knowledge of metallurgy, tool steel hardness, and steel coatings relevant to injection molding applications.
• Maintain and document storage, condition, and status of all molds, ensuring accurate records are kept and updated.
• Maintain positive working relationships with external vendors and service providers as needed.
• Participate in continuous improvement activities related to tooling, quality, productivity, and safety.
• Adhere to company and regulatory safety requirements and maintain clean, organized work areas.
• Maintain consistent and reliable attendance.
Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
• Journeyman Toolmaker certification preferred.
• Will consider non-certified candidates with 10+ years of hands-on toolroom experience in injection mold repair, build, or maintenance.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment required; injection molding experience strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Strong knowledge of manual machining processes (mills, grinders, lathes, etc.).
• Knowledge of CNC milling, Wire EDM, and Sinker EDM is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret mold designs, blueprints, and technical specifications.
• Strong understanding of metallurgy, heat treatment, tool steel hardness, and coating applications.
• Familiarity with hot runner systems, valve gates, and wiring repair.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root-cause identification skills.
• Ability to manage mold storage systems, documentation, and maintenance records.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, and use of hands for fine manipulation.
• Ability to operate shop equipment safely and effectively.
Work Environment
• Tool room / manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and industrial materials.
• Fast-paced, technical environment requiring focus and precision.
