The Reliability Engineer II is responsible for utilizing engineering skills to contribute to the development and qualification of power tool products. The Reliability Engineer defines the test methods, analytical processes and product requirements necessary to deliver durable, disruptive, and market-leading products.
Strong candidates will bring attention to detail, accountability, and broad experiences in systems engineering, test development, validation, and data acquisition/analytics to the development team. The candidate thrives in a fast-paced work environment, executing various reliability and quality engineering deliverables, with excellent visibility and opportunities to grow.
This role will support complex plumbing, electrical, and mechanical trades power tools.
Duties and Responsibilities
Product Development
  • Be a subject matter expert in the development team with respect to test methods, product requirements, user needs, and data analytics
  • Manage user needs and design requirements from collaboration with product management and participation in user research
  • Collaborate with design engineers and marketing to define product specifications with respect to reliable life, durability, quality, features, and other user needs
  • Design experimental and analytical techniques to improve development, testing and qualification efforts
  • Interact with global engineers, suppliers, manufacturing, distribution and service partners that support the product development process
  • Proactively identify risks through critical thinking, data analysis, design reviews, and test results
  • Track and support multiple projects simultaneously to ensure adherence to schedule and Milwaukee Tool quality expectations

Testing and Analysis
  • Develop new test methods and repeatable procedures which global test labs can follow to evaluate product performance against user and design requirements
  • Effectively document test plans, procedures, schedule and best practices for execution
  • Support creation of complex test fixtures, GR&R, and correlation studies that meet project cost and schedule
  • Execute robustness tests to ensure our products are Nothing but HEAVY DUTY
  • Perform data analysis, post-processing, and visualization of test data, reliability growth and demonstration
  • Summarize test results with statistical techniques and present concise, logical, written and/or verbal conclusions
  • Ensure timely failure reporting and drive root cause analysis and effective corrective/preventative actions with all stakeholders

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical or related engineering field with 2+ years of experience in product development, systems, reliability, test, and/or quality roles
  • Experience with or desire to learn:
    • Analytical problem-solving skills and statistical application in areas such as Design of Experiments, sampling techniques, regression, reliability, FMEAs, hypothesis testing, etc.
    • Test development and design verification and validation. Experience with HALT, accelerated life and other reliability test methods a plus
    • Life data analysis, reliability distributions, and related software (e.g. Minitab, Reliasoft Weibull++)
    • Hands-on data acquisition systems, data analytics, and related software (e.g. Python, nCode Glyphworks, Dewesoft)
    • Systems engineering fundamentals, requirements management and proven ability to lead a primary function within a project team
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels with creative problem-solving capabilities
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational skills and ability to support multiple projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge / Experience with the phases of residential and commercial construction and the equipment used is a plus
  • Ability to travel 5-10% (includes both domestic and international)
