They work with a variety of materials, such as metal and plastic, to create precision components that help produce parts and products efficiently and accurately. Tool & Die Makers use advanced machinery, including computer numerically controlled (CNC) equipment, and must interpret technical drawings and blueprints to ensure exact specifications. Their work is essential to maintaining the quality and functionality of manufacturing operations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a tool & die maker, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Tool & Die Maker, you need strong skills in precision machining, blueprint reading, and mathematics, typically supported by a relevant apprenticeship or technical diploma. Proficiency with CNC machines, CAD/CAM software, and measuring instruments like micrometers and calipers is essential.
