Position Description
The Tasting Room Associate is responsible for presenting Amaterra as a world class winery, resulting in strong wine sales, wine club membership conversions, and creating a memorable winery experience.
Required Qualifications
1. One to two years of wine tasting room sales or related wine industry experience.
2. Must be 21 years of age.
Essential Functions
1. Proven track record of successful wine sales and particularly in a tasting room,
restaurant, and large groups and events.
2. Ability to emphasize and anticipate customer needs.
3. Knowledge of and passion for wines and wine productions.
4. Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
5. Extremely organized with particular emphasis on prompt and accurate communication with clients.
6. Able to handle stress and remain calm.
7. Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
8. Ability to problem solve.
9. Demonstrate an ability to develop strategies and remain focused to meet sales/revenue goals.
10. Previous experience working in a team-based sales environment.
11. Experience working with various systems, particularly Commerce7, Tock, and Toast.
12. Able to work a varied schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Position Responsibilities
1. Model the Amaterra Values in decision-making and in interactions with team members and guests.
2. In the Tasting Room, sell wine and wine/food pairing for on-site consumption.
3. Present Amaterra wines through storytelling, vineyard and winemaking
facts, and persuasive sales techniques resulting in best-in-class membership
conversions and off-premises order conversions with high average order values.
4. Facilitate VIP private and semi-private tasting experiences with a focus on engaging these customers with the Amaterra brand and wines at a deep level for a lasting customer relationship.
5. Handle purchasing transactions, including operating the point-of-sale machine and accounting of daily sales.
6. Acquire and maintain thorough knowledge of the winery, wine production, and its wines.
7. Describe wines, winemaking techniques, winery history, and answer visitors' questions about wines.
8. Conduct wine education classes for the restaurant and event servers and bartenders.
9. Pour wines for tastings, club tastings, events, and the restaurant.
10. Support wine club events and growth and work closely with the wine club manager.
11. Represent winery at outside functions as required.
12. Conduct opening and closing procedures for the Tasting Room and/or restaurant.
13. Assist in processing wine club shipments and fulfillment.
14. Occasionally assist production winemaking team during peak times such as harvest and/or bottling.
15. Regular, predictable, and reliable attendance and punctuality.
16. Perform all other duties as assigned.
