Our Laboratories Functional Service Partnership (FSP) team plays a direct role in advancing drug development by creating sustained groups of talent within our customers’ organizations to provide long-term support. The Scientist, Tissue Culture Technologies will develop and apply physiologically relevant cell-based assays to support activities across multiple Therapeutic Areas and modalities. This highly collaborative, laboratory-based role will focus on establishing robust in vitro models that enable characterization and prioritization of therapeutic candidates.

The successful candidate will have strong hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture and cell-based assay development. The Scientist will independently execute experiments within defined project objectives, troubleshoot complex assays, analyze and interpret data, and communicate findings to multidisciplinary program teams.

Key responsibilities:

• Develop, optimize, and execute physiologically relevant in vitro assays supporting antibody engineering, gene therapy, and other therapeutic modalities.
• Establish and apply cell-based assays to characterize antibody internalization and recycling.
• Develop and execute cell-based assays to characterize AAV transduction efficiency, transgene expression, and other mechanisms relevant to gene therapy programs.
• Partner with automation and enabling-technology teams to improve assay throughput, reproducibility, and operational efficiency.
• Design experiments using appropriate controls and statistical approaches; analyze, interpret, and clearly communicate results and recommendations to project teams.
• Troubleshoot technical challenges, identify sources of assay variability, and implement solutions that improve robustness and reproducibility.
• Maintain complete and accurate experimental documentation and contribute to protocols, technical reports, presentations, and assay methods.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in lab sciences such as Chemistry, Biochemistry, Material Science, Immunology, Biology, Molecular Biology or similar
• Scientist: Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 2+ years’)
• OR Masters degree

In some cases, an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

•  Strong hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture and development or optimization of cell-based assays.
• Experience with viral transduction, including AAV and lentivirus.
• Experience with in vitro assessment of antibody mechanism of action.
• Experience with live cell imaging platforms (Incucyte) to enable kinetic assessment of antibodies and AAVs.
• Experience with engineered cell lines, including inducible knockdown systems, fluorescent reporters, or receptor overexpression.
• Experience with RNA quantification (qPCR).
• Experience with protein quantification (MSD, AlphaLISA).
• Demonstrated ability to independently plan and execute experiments, analyze data, troubleshoot technical problems, and draw scientifically supported conclusions.
• Ability to manage multiple experiments and priorities while consistently delivering high-quality results.
• Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate experimental findings to multidisciplinary scientific teams.
• Collaborative and team-oriented approach with the ability to work effectively across different therapeutic modalities and functional areas.
