Strong communication, conflict resolution, and situational awareness are vital soft skills for handling challenging situations and ensuring guest safety. What are tips in the context of employment?

In the context of employment, 'tips' refer to additional payments made voluntarily by customers to employees as a reward for good service, often in industries like hospitality, food service, and personal care. Tips are given on top of the base wage and can make up a significant portion of an employee’s income. Employers may have policies about pooling or sharing tips, and there are legal regulations regarding how tips are handled and reported for tax purposes.

Many professionals in tipped positions find it helpful to create a detailed budget based on their lowest-earning weeks to ensure they can cover essential expenses. It's also advisable to set aside a portion of higher-than-average tips in a savings account for leaner periods.
