California Proton Therapy Center

This position is located at the California Proton Therapy Center - 9730 Summers Ridge Road, San Diego, CA 92121. Pending State License accepted: Yes if we have an ETA from licensing of when it will post. Start date: 6/15. Shift: 4x10s days, Monday through Friday, start times are variable between 0600 and 0830 depending on patient volume. Major holidays off.

Types of Cases Preferred: BMT, infusion, PCU, radiation oncology. Years of experience REQ: 1 year of hem/onc inpatient or outpatient experience, AND 4 years as an RN. First-timer travelers accepted: (Y/N): Y. Weekend REQ: No, unless making up for beam downtime. National Certs REQ: BLS (AHA), PALS (AHA). Is on-call REQ? N. Will clinician float within scope to meet facility needs? N. Floating Req to Sister Facilities: N. Open to accommodating block schedule? N. Locals accepted: N. RTO Restrictions: 6 days RTO max. Guaranteed Hours: Hours are guaranteed after the call off policy has been met.

Special Requirements: - CA RN license - 1 year of pediatric hem/onc inpatient or outpatient experience AND 4 years as an RN - Central line and IV start experience - Experience in radiation therapy and/or sedation - BLS (AHA) - PALS (AHA) - APHON preferred - CPHON or CPON preferred.

Unit Summary

• Patient Diagnoses: Oncology - mostly brain tumors, Ewings Sarcoma, Rhabdomyosarcoma and lymphomas. Patient Population: Average 15 to 25 pediatric patients per day. Blood and Marrow Transplantation. Proton Center Position. Oncology: neuroblastoma, anemia, leukemia/lymphoma, solid tumor, brain tumor. Hematology: hemophilia/ITP/sickle cell anemia. Skills: IV starts and port-a-cath accessing, imaging and radiation treatment under general anesthesia, pre-procedure check-in, PACU recovery, central line maintenance, medication administration.
