James Hamilton Construction Co. is seeking a detail-oriented and driven project engineer to join our team. The project engineer will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing projects within the organization, ensuring they are completed on time within scope and budget. This role requires excellent communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and a strong understanding of estimating and scheduling concepts.

Position Description
Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed project plans, including scope, goals, deliverables, resource allocation, timelines, and budgets.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure all aspects of the project are aligned and progressing smoothly.
  • Provide engineering expertise and technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of project activities, including plans, designs, reports, and schedule updates.
  • Monitor project costs, manage budgets, and report on financial status.
  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
  • Ensure all project activities meet or exceed industry standards, regulations, and company quality guidelines.
  • Regularly update stakeholders on project progress, challenges, and changes in scope.
  • Address technical issues and project challenges, providing solutions to keep the project on track.
  • Handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Proactively communicate goals, purpose, and proposed changes to the supervisor to ensure alignment with company objectives.
  • Cross-train with team members and perform additional duties as needed.

Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Business Administration preferred but not required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in project engineering or a related field.
  • Proficient in project management software (e.g., P6 Primavera, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, etc.).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information.
  • Strong leadership and team collaboration skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues and think critically to solve complex problems.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong understanding of MSHA/OSHA regulations.

Work Environment
  • Primary work location is the Chino mine office.
  • Work will be conducted primarily within the confines of the customer's property.
  • Fieldwork involves exposure to active mining and construction environments.
  • Must be able to navigate rugged terrain and work in varying weather conditions (heat, dust, wind, etc.).
  • Regular use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
  • Occasional extended work hours may be necessary to meet project deadlines.
  • May require occasional travel for training or professional development.
  • Must adhere to MSHA and OSHA safety regulations at all times.

Position Requirements
