Role: Staff Accountant

Hiring Type: Direct Hire

Location: DC

Office: Hybrid schedule

Pay: $65k - $80k / year

Position Overview:

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations with a focus on construction accounting, including job costing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have experience using Sage Timberline and a strong understanding of construction-specific accounting processes.


Requirements:

  • Experience with in construction, preferably residential
  • Experience with a large ERP system
  • Bachelors Degree in Finance or Accounting


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, job cost ledgers, and project accounts.
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Maintain and monitor project budgets and job costs in Timberline.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Prepare financial statements, reports, and analysis for management.
  • Support audits and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
  • Collaborate with project managers to review project financials and forecasts.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in residential construction.
  • Proficient in Sage Timberline
  • Strong understanding of job costing, project accounting, and construction finance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software.
