Job description

JOB SUMMARY
Do you believe every Girl Scout can change the world? Do you have nine weeks this summer to help us develop girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place? If so, we want you! Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta has an amazing opportunity for you to spend your summer at Camp Meriwether, Camp Misty Mountain, or Camp Timber Ridge making lifelong friends and memories while mentoring Girl Scouts. Support the health of campers and staff as they engage in activities such as hiking, archery, challenge course, swimming, horseback riding, STEAM and more!
Health Care Supervisors support the mental and physical heath of campers and staff. They review and generate documentation related to the daily wellbeing of campers and staff. They support other camp staff as needed with first aid and help make decisions in emergency situations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Screen incoming campers records and inquire of parents for any missing records prior to arrival.
  • Facilitate a pre-screening for lice and temperature at check in on arrival day for sleepaway camp.
  • Collect medications at check in and distribute as needed during their stay at camp using proper documentation.
  • Schedule appointments and transport campers and staff to professional medical care as necessary.
  • Administer health related programs and staff trainings as requested.
  • Care for campers and staff housed in the Health Center due to illness/injury and provide timely first aid as needed even in the middle of the night.
  • Provide emotional support for campers and staff.
  • Observe campers and staff daily to support the overall health and wellness of the camp community.
  • Assure that all operations of health care follow ACA and Camp guidelines according to our operating procedures.
  • Maintain and submit all required records in a timely manner.
  • Maintain health center supplies an inventory responsibly and submit supply requests as needed.
  • Other duties as requested by the Camp Director.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must hold a current health care certification including First Aid and CPR (EMT or WFR preferred).
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to operate telephone, computer, and other office equipment independently.
  • Stamina is necessary to live in the camp setting which includes traverse rough and uneven terrain without assistance.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds.
  • Ability to live and operate in a remote outdoor setting.
  • Ability to make decisions and act wisely in an emergency.
  • Preferred minimum age 21.
  • Preferred experience working with children and adults.

* Must be able to complete & clear a Criminal and Sex Offender background check and have a clean Motor Vehicle Record.
