OVERALL DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a skilled Carpenter to construct, install, maintain, and repair a variety of structures and fixtures made of wood and other building materials. This role is responsible for building frameworks, partitions, concrete forms, stairways, doors, windows, fencing, flooring, and other structural components using hand and power tools. The Carpenter also performs related building trades work, including painting, welding, and assisting with concrete construction projects. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong craftsmanship, attention to detail, and a commitment to completing work safely, efficiently, and to quality standards.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs carpentry work such as lay out and repair of inside and outside building framing and partitions.
  • Constructs stations platforms, shoring, heavy timber framing, concrete forms and sets forms.
  • Installs trim and millwork, doors, windows, counters and cabinetry. installs and repairs hardware and accessories.
  • Installs and replaces various types of locks and related parts and accessories.
  • Installs, repairs and constructs various types of fencing i.e. wood, metal, etc.
  • Constructs, installs repairs various types of wood, metal and pipes stairs and handrails.
  • Fabricates, installs, and replaces wood and metal signs.
  • Fabricates various brackets, hangers and anchoring systems.
  • Operates roofing torches, roofing kettles, and manager's materials between 375 degrees and 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Performs glazing rigging, and scaffold erection.
  • Performs acetylene burning, various soldering, brazing and welding operations as required.
  • Constructs and sets concretes forms, shovels and mix concrete as required. assist in pouring concrete as required.
  • Applies prime coat of paint to work; finishes coat as required.
  • Prepares estimates of materials required for implementation and completion of assignments, makes field changes and sketches as required. 
  • Responsible for job progression and completion.
  • Carries tools and equipment, cleans and clears work area.
  • Accomplishes daily and other reports/records as assigned.
  • Operates truck to various locations, operated forklift truck
  • Performs routine maintenance such as adding air to tires, gas, oil and water as required. 
  • Completes pre-trip/post-trip inspection of vehicles.
  • Complies with all Authority and departmental safety and security policies and procedures as well as all applicable job safety responsibilities.  Reports any safety concerns, compromises or hazards affecting operations, the public, self and/or other employees.  Responsible for personal safety and is encouraged to promote the safety of others.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.Successful completion of qualification testing in:
    • Basic mathematics
    • Blueprint reading
    • Carpentry practices
    • Hand tool usage
  • Demonstrated experience as a carpenter in general building construction, industrial construction, and roofing.Valid Class B driver's license or equivalent required.
