Job description

Installation of solar panels. Carpenters are expected to work with and install doors, hardware, trim, cabinetry, ceiling materials and millwork. Specific tasks may include building rough wooden structures, such as concrete forms, scaffolds, tunnel and sewer supports and temporary frame shelters according to sketches, blueprints or verbal instructions. This includes examining specifications to determine dimensions of structures and measuring boards, timbers or plywood using various tools.

Carpenters must be proficient at sawing boards and plywood panels to required sizes, bracing forms in place with timbers, tie rods, and anchor bolts, and building framework to strengthen, protect, or disguise buildings that are undergoing construction. 

Carpenters may also be required to erect scaffolding for buildings and install ladders, handrails, walkways, platforms and gangways, install rough frames and bracing them with boards nailed to framework, install subflooring in buildings, or weld parts to steel structural members.
