Our Morristown, NJ office is seeking a motivated Assistant Bridge Engineer to join our team working on diverse public and private infrastructure projects for State and County agencies.
We are seeking a Project Engineer (Bridges) who will work on New Jersey infrastructure design projects at our office in Morristown, NJ. NV5's New Jersey Office operates on a four-day work week.
Responsibilities
NV5's New Jersey office is seeking a motivated Project Engineer (Bridges) to join our team working on diverse public and private infrastructure projects.
  • Lead and mentor junior staff (1+ engineers) on technical design and project tasks
  • Lead the planning, administration, and design of structural bridge projects, ensuring compliance with state and federal standards.
  • Conduct detailed structural analysis and design for various bridge projects.
  • Develop and review engineering calculations for reinforced and prestressed concrete, steel structures, and other materials.
  • Prepare comprehensive engineering reports, plans, specifications, and estimates.
  • Utilize engineering software packages such as STAAD, PennDOT ABLRFD, L-Pile, and MathCAD for project delivery.
  • Ensure timely delivery of PS&E contract documents, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams across various geographic locations.
  • Conduct quality control and assurance activities to maintain high standards in project execution.
  • Develop quantities and cost estimates, ensuring projects stay within budget.
  • Utilize CADD to develop detailed bridge plans and specifications.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, code requirements, and client objectives.
  • Conduct/lead field work oversight, including surveys, data collection, construction observation, and support (RFIs, submittals, change orders)

Qualifications
  • B.S. in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering (M.S. a plus)
  • EIT required
  • PE license preferred (but not required) or ability to obtain within 1 year after starting
  • 4-8 years of experience as a bridge engineer, including design, plan preparation, structural analysis, design, quantity calculation, and construction support services.
  • Proficiency with AASHTO LRFD, MicroStation (ORD a plus)/InRoads, and structural design software (LARS, STAAD, LEAP, etc.)
  • Experience with NJDOT, NJTA, and PANYNJ projects
  • Strong communication, organizational, and team leadership skills
  • Ability to work in team setting
  • Ability to independently and accurately complete engineering calculations for reinforced and prestressed concrete and steel structures; familiarity with timber and masonry design is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software applications (including MS Project).
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid driver's license prior to employment

Compensation: $95,000.00 - $115,000.00
The pay range for this position in New Jersey is $95,000-$115,000 per year, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications. In addition, we offer restricted stock units, a full benefits package (medical, dental, life insurance, 401(k), PTO), and strong professional development opportunities.
