Job description

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provides reliable, high quality customer support.
  • Provides customer instruction on system operation and functionality.
  • Performs system testing and signal verification.
  • Maintains truck stock/inventory (equipment and tools). Able to do Tier 2 calls independently.
  • Installs and troubleshoots low voltage panels, wiring and associated devices including IP video systems and intrusion systems.
  • Performs system testing and signal verification.
  • Organizes and utilizes technical resources, information, materials, and support; ensures progress and completion of assigned tasks.
  • Installs panels, boxes, wiring and associated devices at the headend; reads plans; uses a variety of tools; completes installations according to requirements and shows a mastery of field installation and integration across access control, intrusion, and IP video systems.
  • Follows policy and jobsite rules for safety.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Must have a minimum of 5 or more years experience in technician role or or equivalent experience in the low voltage/electrical industry.
  • Minimum of High School Diploma/Vocational Training.
  • Must have a low voltage security license (where applicable) and a video management certification (preferably with Milestone) and access control certification (preferably with Lenel S2).
  • Minimum of 1 Intrusion System Certification.
  • Must have a valid Drivers License and a current Scissor/Boom Lift Certification and OSHA 30 certification, along with CPR/First Aid Certification.
  • Advanced knowledge of security systems (i.e. optimization of the network, system programming and integration and relay functionality).
  • Ability to program the access control panel, intrusion panel and video management system.
  • Ability to trouble shoot and resolve system issues.
  • Able to teach and train others.
  • Provides accurate and succinctly written documentation.
  • Must be able to multi-task.
  • Able to display a professional demeanor.
  • Ability and willingness to make key contributions to the growth of the business.
  • Previous experience in leading a team of at least 2 technicians who have successfully completed multiple security projects. Has developed and trained technicians to their next level.
  • Ability to stand; walk; sit; twist; use hands to handle; reach with hands and arms; push; pull; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear.
  • Use vision abilities including: close, distance, peripheral, depth, and color.
  • Ability to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions/circumstances such as climbing ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment; crawl spaces, attics, above ceilings; lift, move, and hold up to approximately 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to maneuver into and out of heavy equipment.
  • Must be able to work a full-time, flexible schedule with "on call availability" and be able to travel on short notice.
  • Must be able to drive a motor vehicle (day and evenings) for extended time periods.
  • Periodic Travel may be required, including long distance drives of several hours. For Global Team positions, 50% or more overnight travel may be required.
