Job description

Position Overview

Emser Tile is seeking an experienced Branch Manager to support the local Business Development Manager and sales team in executing strategies that expand market share, drive profitable growth, and deliver exceptional customer service.  This position provides hands-on leadership and is accountable for branch performance including but not limited to financial results, operational execution, inventory control, facility readiness, safety compliance, and overall operational team development.  Based on business needs, the role may also require direct participation in daily operations, including warehouse support, physical tasks, and forklift operation.  This position reports directly to the Regional Operations Manager with dotted line reporting to the Business Development Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation and execution of strategic sales and operational plans designed to expand the customer base, strengthen the branch’s local market presence, and achieve revenue and profitability objectives.
  • Drive branch profitability by achieving revenue goals and operational performance objectives while maintaining effective cost controls and delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Develop and maintain strong, long-term customer relationships by understanding customer needs, resolving concerns promptly, and delivering a consistently high standard of service across all branch interactions.
  • Oversee daily branch operations, including order management, inventory flow, receiving, stocking, warehouse performance, delivery coordination, customer service, administration, staffing, facility readiness, and overall branch presentation.
  • Ensure orders are processed accurately, inventory is maintained and organized, warehouse activities are conducted efficiently, customer pickups and deliveries are handled professionally, and branch procedures are followed consistently.
  • Support transition of order processing workflow to central services as necessary. 
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment by enforcing safety practices, monitoring equipment use, supporting efficient warehouse workflows, and ensuring compliance with company standards.
  • Establish and drive branch objectives, performance expectations, and operating standards that align with company policies, safety requirements, service standards, and financial goals.
  • Partner with the local Business Development Manager to advance sales and marketing initiatives, monitor market activity, identify growth opportunities, and inform the local market team on competitive developments, market penetration, and customer trends.
  • Contribute to the development of financial forecasts and business plans, with accountability for branch sales, operating performance, expense management, and profitability.
  • Analyze operating costs, inventory performance, staffing levels, and partner with the Business Development Manager on sales activity, forecast data to evaluate progress toward branch goals, identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure branch team members receive appropriate training in sales processes, order management, warehouse responsibilities, inside sales, customer service standards, and office administration.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with regional and corporate leadership to advance company initiatives, reinforce organizational culture and values, and promote operational and financial consistency.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated success managing financial performance and branch operations while consistently meeting or exceeding established objectives.
  • Comprehensive understanding of branch operations, including inventory management, order fulfillment, warehouse workflows, customer service, staffing, and expense control.
  • Ability and willingness to assist with branch and warehouse activities as needed, including lifting and moving product, supporting order fulfillment, and operating a forklift in accordance with company safety requirements.
  • Experience in the building materials, distribution, or a related industry is preferred.
  • Strong business acumen and a results-oriented, customer-focused, and operationally disciplined approach.
  • Proven leadership, coaching, problem-solving, and people-management capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across branch, regional, and corporate teams.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, address competing demands, and follow through on commitments.
  • Strong time management, organizational, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to training, teamwork, leadership, accountability, and consistent follow-through.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as business systems used to manage sales, inventory, and branch operations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field preferred.
