Tier Tech information

What is a tier tech?

Tier Techs, or Tier Technicians, are IT professionals responsible for providing technical support at different levels, often classified as Tier 1, Tier 2, or Tier 3. Their primary role is to resolve hardware, software, and network issues for end-users, escalating complex problems to higher-tier support when needed. Tier Techs may work in help desks, IT departments, or managed service providers, ensuring smooth technology operations. The specific responsibilities can vary depending on the tier, with higher tiers handling more advanced and specialized issues.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a tier tech, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Tier Tech, you need strong troubleshooting abilities, foundational IT knowledge, and relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+ or Network+. Familiarity with ticketing systems, remote desktop tools, and operating system management is typically required. Excellent communication, patience, and problem-solving skills help in effectively assisting users and collaborating with team members. These skills are crucial to efficiently resolve technical issues, minimize downtime, and ensure user satisfaction.

What are some common challenges faced by tier techs when troubleshooting customer issues, and how can they overcome them?

Tier Techs often encounter challenges such as unclear customer descriptions of technical problems, high ticket volumes, and the need to prioritize urgent issues. Overcoming these challenges requires strong communication skills to extract relevant information, effective time management, and a systematic troubleshooting approach. Collaborating closely with other support tiers and documenting solutions thoroughly can also help Tier Techs provide better service and resolve issues efficiently.

Job description

Are you a driven recruiter who loves the hunt for top-tier tech talent? We’re looking for a Technical Recruiter to join our team and take full ownership of the recruitment lifecycle—from sourcing to offer. This is more than just filling roles. It’s about building relationships, creating pipelines, and being a strategic partner in growing a company that values people as much as performance.

This is a hybrid-remote opportunity (Mondays & Fridays on-site in Addison).

What’s In It For You?

  • Medical, dental, and vision with employer contributions
  • $50k paid life insurance policy
  • Home, Auto & Pet Insurance, along with Legal & Identity Theft
  • Dental & Vision, 401K match, and short & long-term disability insurance
  • Flexible Spending Account
  • Exceptional company values and culture with annual Anniversary Bonuses
  • Referral bonuses ranging from $500 to $2,000

What You’ll Do:

  • Own the full recruitment lifecycle for technical and corporate roles across the organization.
  • Source actively and creatively using Boolean searches, social platforms, resume databases, user group events, and more.
  • Build and maintain long-term talent pipelines—not just for open roles, but for future hiring needs across multiple disciplines.
  • Work hand-in-hand with Business Development Directors to understand role requirements and ideal candidate profiles.
  • Keep candidates informed throughout the process to ensure a transparent and professional experience.
  • Maintain accurate data in the ATS and track metrics that help improve our hiring efficiency.
  • Participate in internal team meetings and contribute ideas that enhance our recruiting strategies.

What You’ll Bring:

  • 4+ years of technical recruiting experience (in-house, agency, or hybrid).
  • Bachelor’s degree OR equivalent relevant experience.
  • Proven ability to source and hire for complex tech roles like software engineers, DevOps, data engineers, product managers, etc.
  • Deep understanding of full-cycle recruiting, from sourcing through to closing offers.
  • Strong communication skills—both verbal and written—with a knack for relationship-building.
  • A proactive, results-oriented mindset with a sense of urgency.
  • A team player who’s coachable, adaptable, and thrives on collaboration.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving ability when facing hiring challenges.
