The Customer Service Representative is a part-time, customer-facing position that supports daily retail operations at the University of Utah Campus Store. This role provides helpful, knowledgeable service to students, faculty, staff, alumni, and visitors; assists with sales transactions; maintains merchandise and store presentation; and supports stocking, inventory, and other operational needs. Employees may work in a variety of Campus Store locations or departments based on business needs.
Responsibilities
Provide courteous, timely, and solution-focused customer service.
Assist customers with locating merchandise, answering basic product questions, and directing them to appropriate team members when needed.
Operate point-of-sale systems and accurately process sales, returns, exchanges, and other customer transactions.
Stock, replenish, organize, size, fold, and merchandise products according to established standards.
Maintain clean, safe, and organized sales floor, cashier, fitting room, stockroom, and work areas.
Assist with receiving, unpacking, labeling, pricing, and preparing merchandise for the sales floor.
Support inventory-related activities, including counts, restocking, and identifying damaged, missing, or misplaced merchandise.
Follow Campus Store procedures for cash handling, loss prevention, safety, customer service, and University policies.
Assist with promotions, events, seasonal business needs, and peak-volume periods.
Communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers and contribute to a positive, team-oriented work environment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Customer Service Representative, I
Act as resource to customers on non-product related customer service requests and issues. Coordinate with other internal departments to resolve issues and follow through with client until completion. May take escalated calls from call center agents and use limited discretion/decision-making authority as needed to resolve customer issues. For product or service-related inquires, transfer customer to appropriate technical support group. May provide non-technical initial client on-boarding in absence of dedicated resource within organization. Performs routine tasks as directed and under close supervision.
Requires little to no related experience.
This is an Entry-Level position in the Support track.

Customer Service Representative, II
Act as resource to customers on non-product related customer service requests and issues. Coordinate with other internal departments to resolve issues and follow through with client until completion. May take escalated calls from call center agents and use limited discretion/decision-making authority as needed to resolve customer issues. For product or service-related inquires, transfer customer to appropriate technical support group. May provide non-technical initial client on-boarding in absence of dedicated resource within organization. Completes routine tasks under moderate supervision.
Requires at least 1 year of related experience.
This is an Intermediate Level position in the Support track.
Minimum Qualifications
EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).

Department may hire employee at one of the following job levels:

Customer Service Representative, I: Requires little to no related experience.

Customer Service Representative, II: Requires at least 1 year of related experience.
Preferences
Previous customer service, retail, cash handling, or merchandising experience.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak campus or event periods as needed.
