Job description

Function:
The Sales and Production Associate will be responsible to perform a wide variety of duties in the store and the production area.

The Sales and Production Associate will maintain order and create and sustain a pleasant and hospitable work environment and maintain good customer relationships.

Duties and Responsibilities:
General:
  • Assist in creating a pleasant and hospitable work environment and maintain good customer relationships.
  • Assist, as required, with store operations.
  • Serve all customers in a courteous and efficient manner.
  • Handle all donations with care and donors with respect and courtesy.
  • Handle merchandise as directed, always maintaining proper categories and colorization.
  • Ensure that store is sufficiently stocked and “ragged out” in accordance with the “ARC COMMAND RAG OUT CALENDAR.”
  • Assist in cleaning and general maintenance of store property.
  • Immediately report theft, customer complaints, injuries, and any unsafe equipment or conditions to management.
  • Maintain a clean and clutter-free work area.
  • Be well-versed in and comply with store policies as communicated.
  • This position will support the work therapy program component of The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Centers by providing beneficiaries with an example of professional conduct and work habits.
  • Other duties as may be assigned by immediate supervisor, Store Supervisor, and/or Administrator.

Depending on store size, staffing levels, and production needs, you may be asked to perform any or all of the following:
Cashier/Sales Floor:
  • Comply with all cash handling and security standards as relates to cash register operations, daily sales reports, and bank deposits.
  • Sort, price, stock and “rag out” showcase merchandise and other areas as directed.
  • Restock fitting room merchandise back to racks in proper category and color code.
  • Maintain merchandise displays as directed.
  • Answer telephone calls in an efficient, friendly, professional manner.

Sorter:
  • Sort minimum of 300 store quality garments an hour by department.
  • Assist moving the donations to the sorting table as needed.
  • Assist with hanging merchandise as needed.
  • Assist running clothing racks as needed.

Hanger/Tagger:
  • Hang and ticket a minimum of 225 pieces per hour of clothing on rolling racks from sorting table by department on the correct hanger type, and by category in an 8-hour period.
  • Assist moving the donations to the sorting table as needed.
  • Assist sorting clothing as needed.
  • Assist running clothing racks as needed.

Pricer:
  • Price a minimum of 250 garments an hour using a wide range of prices determined by the style, quality, and condition of each piece.
  • Acquire and maintain knowledge of name brand merchandise and value.
  • Assist moving the donations to the sorting table as needed.
  • Assist ticketing merchandise as needed.
  • Assist with running clothing racks as needed.

Runner:
  • Place a minimum of 225 garments an hour from the production room to the sales floor on the proper rack by department, category, and color order.
  • Straighten and maintain the clothing racks of the departments as assigned.
  • Rag out merchandise in accordance with the Territorial ARC Rag Out Calendar.
  • Assist hanging merchandise as needed.

Bric a Brac:
  • Sort and clean all saleable miscellaneous merchandise donations daily.
  • Ticket all merchandise and assign an individual fair market price for each item.
  • Place and maintain all merchandise in the required order and manner.
  • Rag out merchandise in accordance with the Territorial ARC Rag Out Calendar.

Shoes/Accessories:
  • Sort and clean all saleable shoes, handbags and accessory donations daily.
  • Ticket all merchandise and assign an individual fair market price for each item.
  • Process to the store a minimum of 25 pieces/sets per hour maintaining all merchandise in the required order and manner.
  • Rag out merchandise in accordance with the Territorial ARC Rag Out Calendar.

Domestics:
  • Sort and measure all saleable linen items daily as required.
  • Ticket all merchandise and assign an individual fair market price for each item.
  • Process to the store a minimum of 25 pieces/sets per hour maintaining all merchandise in the required order and manner.
  • Rag out merchandise in accordance with the Territorial ARC Rag Out Calendar.

Books/Records/Toys:
  • Sort and clean all saleable merchandise daily as required.
  • Ticket all merchandise and assign an individual fair market price for each item in accordance with established policies.
  • Place and maintain all merchandise in the required order and manner.
  • Rag out merchandise in accordance with the Territorial Rag Out

Calendar. Furniture/Electrical:
  • Sort, clean and test all electrical and furniture donations as required.
  • Ticket all electrical merchandise using “sold as is” tickets and assign an individual fair market price for each item.
  • Complete furniture tickets and record required information assigning a fair market price for each furniture item.
  • Place and maintain all merchandise in the required order and manner.
  • Mark down furniture items on sales floor in accordance with policy.
  • Rag out merchandise in accordance with the Territorial ARC Rag Out Calendar.

Donations/Maintenance:
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the sales floor, bathrooms, entry, windows, sidewalks and parking areas daily.
  • Accept donations in accordance with standard policies while providing courteous, respectful service to the donor.
  • Receive and receipt, as per policy, all donated material in a courteous and efficient manner.
  • Maintain cleanliness of all donation facilities.
  • Safeguard all donated materials and assigned equipment.
  • Ensure a constant flow of donations to the sorting table throughout the day.
  • Assist with ragging out the sales floor as assigned.
  • Bale ragouts and trash as required. Perform lawn and garden work as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Ability to speak and understand English for effective communication with supervisors, employees, beneficiaries, and customers.
  • Good customer service skills.
  • Ability to understand and follow directions.
