• The National Threat Operations Center (NTOC) operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and have a variety of day, mid-day, night, adjoining/odd hour, and weekend shifts. Newer employees typically start on a mid-day or night shift. Shifts periodically change to ensure the needs of the Bureau are met.
• When the National Threat Operations Section (NTOS) experiences an extremely high volume of incoming checks, the Threat Intake Examiners are sometimes required to work a set number of mandatory overtime hours. Management attempts to provide as much notice as possible when overtime will be mandated.
• All Threat Intake Examiners are considered essential employees. This means you could be expected to work holidays and weekends.
• Additionally, this position is designated as "emergency". As an "emergency" employee, you may be expected to report to work during periods of adverse weather conditions or other types of emergency situations when it is announced that an "unscheduled leave policy" is in effect or that federal agencies are closed in your immediate vicinity.

UNIT DESCRIPTION
NTOC operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, providing an around-the-clock mechanism for the FBI to receive potentially critical information, evaluate it, and take appropriate action. In threat-to-life situations, NTOC immediately coordinates with state and local law enforcement partners. In addition, NTOC examines and processes information provided by the public for FBI investigative and intelligence purposes and reports the information to the appropriate field office (FO).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is primarily sedentary, although some slight physical effort may be required. When in a crisis situation, the work can be very stressful and the incumbent may be required to work longer than an eight-hour shift.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions.
MAJOR DUTIES

• Receive, evaluate, and disseminate information pertaining to a variety of situations including criminal activity, potential and actual emergencies, and national security situations.
• Provide support to FBI field offices as well as other government agencies by conducting database searches and evaluating information received telephonically and/or through electronic submissions from the general public.
• Search defined sources such as FBI and open-source databases, social media platforms, and criminal records to evaluate and interpret the information to assist with various case work.
• Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and prepare reports related to terrorism, investment fraud, kidnapping, bomb threats, hijackings, school shootings, bank robberies, etc.

Specialized Experience (SE)
GS-9: Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of SE equivalent to the GS-8 grade level. SE is defined as follows:

• Collaborated with Law Enforcement personnel to support investigations.
• Received, evaluated, and disseminated information related to potential or actual emergencies.
• Compiled information from various investigative tools/databases to build a subject profile.
• Prepared and issued official reports.

Education
GS-9: Education may not be substituted for specialized experience at this grade level.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

• Positions with fitness for duty requirements or those that require international travel may require proof of certain vaccinations.
• Limited Movement: Policy has been implemented wherein support employees entering a position may be precluded from moving to another position within the Bureau through reassignment or change to a lower grade for a minimum of 12 months. HRD will waive this limited movement policy for qualified employees, who have received an official notification letter that their current position is being relocated due to an organizational restructuring initiative, so those employees can compete for a position elsewhere. Voluntarily leaving a position with a relocation incentive may result in loss of that incentive. Please notate that you have received an official notification letter within your application.
• Probationary employees are precluded from being considered for all job opportunities until 12-months of their 24-month probationary period has concluded. • Relocation expenses will be borne by the selectee, except FBI employees returning from LEGAT assignment. Employees returning from LEGAT assignments must advise the Staffing and Administrative Unit / International Operations Division of their application for this position.
