Job description

CWM is seeking an experienced Asphalt Roller Operator to join our team. The primary responsibility of the Asphalt Roller Operator is to operate a rubber tire or steel wheel asphalt roller to achieve the desired compaction of the asphalt mat. In addition to operating the roller, the operator may be required to operate other equipment as needed and assist with the general operation of the job site.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Asphalt Rolling: Operate a rubber tire or steel wheel asphalt roller to compact the asphalt mat to the required specifications.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate additional construction equipment such as pavers, material transfer vehicles, skid steer loaders, and other machinery as needed.
  • Job Site Assistance: Assist in the general operations of the job site, including flagging traffic, setting up and maintaining traffic control aids, and maintaining site organization.
  • Erosion Control: Set up and maintain erosion control devices to protect the environment and prevent erosion.
  • Material Handling: Load and unload materials such as asphalt, gravel, and other necessary construction materials.
  • String Line Maintenance: Check and maintain string lines to ensure correct paving and compaction.
  • Vehicle Operation: May be asked to drive company vehicles including pick-ups, flatbeds, water trucks, and sand trucks to transport materials and equipment.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on all equipment and tools to ensure they are in proper working condition.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, bend, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to climb ladders or steps to access the operator’s seat on the equipment.
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions and in physically demanding environments.
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience operating asphalt rollers and other construction equipment.
  • Ability to operate a variety of machinery such as pavers, material transfer vehicles, and skid steer loaders.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude for routine maintenance and care of equipment.
