Job description

Payroll Manager


Sangoma Technologies is looking for a talented and detailed manager with a minimum of 8 years’ experience in managing payroll to oversee our entire payroll process. This role will manage salary and hourly payroll processing, commission processing, payroll journal entries, reconciliation, analysis, and compliance for payroll on an international scale.

We are seeking a game-changer who can take full ownership of the payroll function, drive continuous process improvements, and act as a key payroll expert for the company.

Your Role:

  • Lead and manage end-to-end payroll processes, including weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and global payroll cycles.
  • Reconcile payroll before transmission and validate reports to ensure accurate and timely processing of transactions across multiple countries.
  • Lead, manage, and mentor the payroll team.
  • Serve as the primary payroll contact for employees, external auditors, and service providers on international and domestic payroll matters.
  • Ensure compliance with international payroll regulations, including tax equalization and various withholding tax requirements across different jurisdictions.
  • Manage the accurate and timely filing of payroll-related compliance forms for global operations.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements, including the implementation of global payroll tools and automated solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as People, Legal, Accounting, and FP&A to ensure alignment on payroll and equity issues.
  • Deliver accurate monthly GL entries in partnership with the accounting team.
  • Create ad hoc and periodic payroll and finance reports for different departments and countries.
  • Responsible for PTO management in collaboration with HR and local managers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental and business objectives, ensuring flexibility in meeting evolving business needs.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in payroll management, including 3+ years in a leadership role managing global payroll teams. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience in increasing responsibility.
  • Strong people management and team building skills.
  • Experience with multi-state and international payrolls for exempt and nonexempt employees.
  • Expertise in tax equalization and a deep understanding of global payroll regulations and compliance.
  • Hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now and Deel payroll software.
  • Strong familiarity with SOX compliance requirements and interacting with auditors and external service providers.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of US and international payroll legislation.
  • Analytical and process-driven mindset with proven experience driving payroll process improvements.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is preferred (Associate degree acceptable), with strong proficiency in ADP Workforce Now, Microsoft Word, Excel, and 10-key.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to work effectively with international teams.
