Job description

Our Strategic sourcing team is currently seeking a Senior Sourcing Consultant in our Worcester, MA location in a hybrid work arrangement. 

POSITION OVERVIEW:

This strategic role will support the Business Operations / Corporate Services team by managing The Hanover's critical third-party supplier portfolios for various business lines (Facilities / Human Resources / Finance / Operations). 

This professional is responsible for coordinating requirements with business customers, information security, and the office of the general counsel to plan, execute and negotiate complex supplier engagements and contracts. 

The Senior Sourcing Consultant will play a key role in communicating Sourcing's goals and ensuring compliance with the procurement policy by influencing and leading business customers through the sourcing lifecycle. 

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:   

  • Lead activities through all phases of the sourcing lifecycle (Strategy, Evaluation & Selection, Third-party Risk Management, Contract Management and Performance Management).
  • Manage business customer supplier portfolio and develop strategies to ensure compliance with the Procurement Policy, identify costs savings and supplier performance improvement.
  • Review and communicate supplier spend across categories to identify opportunities for consolidation of work and savings.
  • Ensure that all appropriate stakeholders are engaged in the planning process and escalate appropriately to solve emerging issues.
  • Participate in and lead cross-functional sourcing teams to support supplier engagement process.
  • Build working relationships with business unit leaders, vendors and industry counterparts.
  • Drive strategic sourcing opportunities and coordinate execution through sourcing analysts and third-party support.
  • Review, analyze and negotiate third party agreements and order documents.  Escalate issues to the office of General Counsel.
  • Negotiate commercial terms for high complexity purchases and construction related projects.
  • Promote collaboration between business units and vendors for delivering and measuring services.
  • Establish processes to monitor supplier performance.
  • Coordinate and monitor work assigned to sourcing analysts.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of all required Third Party Risk Management activities.
  • Maintain high-quality and timely system data.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives and projects for the sourcing organization.
  • Support in the training, development and coaching of consultants and analysts. 

WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY:

  • 10+ years professional experience in Procurement/Sourcing
  • 4 Year college degree, Master’s degree preferred
  • Experience working in insurance or financial services and knowledge of The Hanover's businesses.
  • Experience working with sourcing technologies including procure-to-pay, contract lifecycle management and third-party risk management tools.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to influence others through strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable establishing and growing relationships with business unit and stakeholder Leadership. 
  • Extensive experience developing and executing negotiation strategies.
  • Experience reviewing, analyzing and negotiating complex third-party contracts, including master services agreements, software-as-a-service, construction contracts, statements of work
  • Ability to identify and execute on opportunities for strategic sourcing to drive costs savings and performance improvement.
  • Ability to cultivate an environment of teamwork and collaboration.
  • Proficient with a variety of computer-based tools needed to analyze data and present results (i.e. MS Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Strong data analytics experience.
  • Comfortable challenging business customers to consider different perspectives and solutions.
  • Experience leading projects teams to drive sourcing process improvements.
