Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates commitment to organizational values, service excellence, and adherence to safety standards and programs.
  • Operates, monitors, and maintains complex physical plant systems (e.g., boilers, chillers, generators, HVAC, electrical and water systems) to ensure efficient hospital operations.
  • Supervises and trains HVAC/mechanical staff, coordinating work assignments and ensuring safe, effective maintenance practices.
  • Conducts inspections, troubleshooting, emergency repairs, and preventive maintenance while maintaining accurate logs, work orders, and equipment records.
  • Manages facility operations support, including vendor coordination, inventory control, system adjustments for environmental conditions, and response to emergencies such as fires or system failures.

Qualifications
What minimum requirements you'll need
Education:
  • High School graduate or equivalent -required.

License/Certification:
  • Valid Michigan Driver's License -required.
  • Second Class Steam Stationary Engineer license -required.
  • Licensure by the City of Detroit -preferred.
  • Third Class Refrigeration License -required.
  • Certified or Journeyman status -preferred.

Experience:
  • Eight years related experience preferably in a healthcare facility environment -required.
