Teaching Matters Here
Prelude Prep is a tuition-free public charter school serving students in Pre-K through 8th grade in San Antonio.
We are seeking a Middle School Math Teacher who is passionate about helping students develop confidence, problem-solving skills, and a deep understanding of mathematics. Whether you are an experienced educator or someone with a strong background in mathematics, engineering, science, finance, or a related field, we are looking for someone who believes students can achieve at high levels and is excited to help them get there.
The ideal candidate values strong relationships, maintains high expectations, and understands that mathematics is about much more than getting the right answer. It is about reasoning, perseverance, and learning how to think.
Why Teachers Choose Prelude Prep
Teachers choose Prelude Prep because they are supported.
Our teachers receive:
• Weekly instructional coaching
• Daily planning time
• Paid summer professional development
• A dedicated half-day each week for collaboration and professional learning
• High-quality curriculum and instructional resources
• Leadership support when challenges arise
• Opportunities for growth and leadership
At Prelude Prep, teachers are not expected to figure everything out alone. We use a shared curriculum and common instructional practices so teachers can focus on teaching rather than spending countless hours creating materials from scratch. We maintain clear expectations for student behavior, partner closely with families, and work together to create classrooms where learning comes first.
What You'll Do
As a Middle School Math Teacher, you will help students develop mathematical reasoning, problem-solving skills, and conceptual understanding while fostering a classroom culture built on effort, persistence, and academic growth.
Responsibilities include:
• Deliver engaging, standards-aligned mathematics instruction
• Build students' conceptual understanding while developing procedural fluency
• Create a structured classroom environment where students are challenged to think critically and explain their reasoning
• Use student data to monitor progress and adjust instruction
• Support students in developing confidence and perseverance when faced with challenging problems
• Build strong relationships with students and families
• Collaborate with colleagues to improve outcomes for students
• Participate actively in coaching, planning, and professional development
• Contribute positively to the culture and mission of the school
What We're Looking For
Successful candidates will demonstrate:
• A passion for mathematics and student learning
• Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills
• The ability to make challenging concepts accessible without lowering expectations
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• A growth mindset and willingness to receive feedback
• Professionalism, reliability, and initiative
• The ability to maintain high expectations while building strong relationships
• A commitment to continuous improvement
Qualifications
Required
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
• Ability to pass a criminal background check
• Eligibility to work in the United States
Preferred
• Texas teaching certification in Mathematics
• Previous classroom teaching experience
• Experience working with middle school students
• Background in mathematics, engineering, science, finance, economics, statistics, or a related field
• Experience tutoring, mentoring, coaching, leading youth programs, or working with children in another setting
Teaching certification is preferred but not required. We are willing to invest in the right candidate who demonstrates strong content knowledge, a commitment to student growth, and the ability to build meaningful relationships with students.
Compensation and Benefits
• Salary: $55,000-$65,000
• Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS)
• Medical, dental, and vision insurance
• Employer-paid life insurance
• Optional supplemental insurance benefits
• Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
• Optional 403(b) retirement savings plan
• Weekly coaching and professional development
• Opportunities for leadership and career growth
We Value Initiative
Interested candidates should apply online and are encouraged to follow up with our team.
We appreciate educators who take ownership, seek feedback, and demonstrate genuine interest in becoming part of the Prelude Prep community.
If you're looking for a school where your work matters, your growth is supported, and your impact is visible, we'd love to hear from you.
