Early Learners Classroom Aide (3-Year-Olds)
Status: Full-Time, 10-Month Position (Approx. 40 hrs/week)
Schedule: Follows the Academic Calendar
Position Summary
St. Matthew's Catholic School is seeking a warm, high-energy, and patient Classroom Aide for our Junior Kindergarten program. Working with 3-year-olds you will be a vital partner to the Lead Teacher in creating a nurturing, safe, and faith-filled environment where our youngest learners can explore, grow, and discover the world around them
Requirements
Instructional & Social Support
  • Active Engagement: Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing daily lessons, centers, and play-based learning activities.
  • Individualized Care: Recognize and support the unique developmental needs and "big feelings" of 3-year-olds, treating every child with dignity and respect.
  • Problem Solving: Encourage children to think creatively, share with others, and develop early independence and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Classroom Flow: Support the teacher in maintaining an organized, engaging, and clean classroom environment conducive to early childhood learning.

Supervision & Safety
  • Classroom Management: Supervise the class according to the teacher's plans, ensuring a safe and positive atmosphere at all times.
  • Leadership: Be prepared to step into the role of the teacher in the event of their short-term absence.
  • Safety Protocols: Assist with transitions (hallways, playground, lunchroom) to ensure the safety and security of all students.

Faith & Role Modeling
  • Mission-Driven: Act as an enthusiastic role model, joyfully sharing the Catholic faith and Gospel values through daily interactions and examples.

Professional Qualifications
  • Developmental Knowledge: A foundational understanding of early childhood development (specifically the needs and milestones of 4-year-olds).
  • Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional "team player" mentality with the ability to communicate effectively with the Lead Teacher, staff, and parents.
  • Personal Attributes: High energy, patience, flexibility, and a genuine passion for early childhood education.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; must be at least 18 years of age.

Technical Skills: Basic computer skills for attendance or internal communication.
