Job description

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we're the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.

We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain - and we're looking for talented people who want to help.
You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You'll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you'll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.
Amazon is looking for a results-oriented individual to join the AWS Energy Team

In this role, you will support AWS's infrastructure expansion by leading energy projects with electric utilities and energy companies across AWS regions. This role will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to grow AWS's diverse, reliable and low-cost energy supply. The candidate must be able to manage the execution of multiple large scale power infrastructure projects across different geographies in AMER Central.

The candidate will manage utility interactions, work with internal and external engineering, real estate and planning teams to deliver the power infrastructure to serve AWS data centers, including but not limited to managing the utility or power provider, EPC vendor and/or Owners Engineer to meet AWS' needs. The candidate will work as part of an integrated team to implement energy program requirements and deliver tangible reliability and cost saving results.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong energy background and a proven track record of developing and delivering innovative energy projects, including the construction and commissioning of power generation plants, energy storage, and electric infrastructure. The candidate will have experience working with regulated electric utilities to develop, contract, and deliver medium and high voltage power infrastructure, related tariffs and agreements, as well as determining requirements for systems including power generation solutions

The right candidate will have a demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, operations, and technical challenges, with the skill set to drive tactical execution of project schedules, contracts, initiatives, and team goals. By establishing and growing business and technical relationships, and managing day-to-day interactions with these partners, you will be responsible for ensuring the energy requirements needed to support AWS's global infrastructure expansion are met.
This role requires some domestic travel (less than 20%).
Key job responsibilities
Manage multiple Utilities, EPC and Owner's Engineers to deliver a portfolio of inflight power generation and medium/high voltage power infrastructure projects.
Manage capital budgets for power infrastructure and energy projects.
Collaborate with the internal teams and regulated utilities on the implementation and management of energy and projects in a timely and accurate fashion.
Identify and develop innovative cost savings projects and initiatives related to energy infrastructure and supply.
Work with utility regulators to develop policies and guidelines that enable broader AWS strategies and objectives.
A day in the life
Our team is accountable for the full lifecycle of utility power delivery to existing and future AWS data centers throughout North and South America. We are uniquely positioned and encourage to execute innovative energy solutions that accelerate our sustainability goals, improve power reliability and optimize costs.
Our team is dedicated to supporting new team members in an environment that celebrates knowledge sharing and mentorship

Projects and tasks are assigned in a way that leverages your strengths and helps you further develop your skill set. Here at AWS, we embrace our differences and are committed to furthering our culture of inclusion.
