Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking an enthusiastic and talented senior DevSecOps engineer to build on ongoing modernization efforts for the US Navy with enabling microservices to be rapidly built, tested, fielded, and integrated to container orchestration platforms through heavy use of automation tools and processes. This hybrid support role (75% remote, 25% onsite at a government facility) in the San Diego area is for folks who like being close to the work-building pipelines, automating infrastructure, fixing what slows teams down, and adapting when a program needs something different.

We work in small-to-mid size, diverse teams with clear ownership of tasking. Engineers are trusted in solving problems and aren't waiting for permission to execute.

U.S. Navy warfighters need your help to rapidly deliver cutting edge software solutions to the fleet for planning and executing missions for carrier strike groups conducting operations around the world. Mission planners need to collaborate in order plan for anti-surface warfare, anti-submarine warfare, ballistic missile defense, autonomous drone swarm information gain, and a wide range of other mission areas.

What you'll do:

  • Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines teams rely on
  • Automate infrastructure so environments are predictable and supportable
  • Support containerized platforms in secure, regulated environments
  • Work directly with software and cyber engineers to solve delivery problems
  • Adjust to different program needs, priorities, and technical stacks
Qualifications

Required qualifications:

  • Minimum 8 years' experience with BS/BA; 6 years with MS/MA or 3 years with PhD
  • Secret clearance or be able to obtain one
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Must have strong Kubernetes work experience
  • Must live in the San Diego metro area
  • CompTIA Security+ Certification or the ability to obtain it within 45 days of hire
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience with:
    • Containerization (e.g., Docker, Podman, Buildah)
    • Container Orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes, OpenShift, Helm)
    • CI/CD automation tools (e.g., GitLab, Jenkins, AWS Code Build)
    • Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation)
    • Linux systems (e.g., RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu)
    • Automation and scripting (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, physics, or related field
  • Demonstrated experience with:
    • Cloud computing infrastructure or development (e.g., AWS, Azure)
    • Full stack software development (e.g., Java, Python, TypeScript, React, SQL)
    • Atlassian suite tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket)

Target Salary Range$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations.
