Job Summary
Theater Technicians play vital production roles on all performances and events at Drexel University's Mandell Theater and URBN Annex Black Box Theater. Theater Technicians must have solid working knowledge of both light board and sound board programming.
Essential Functions
  • Serve as light board operator, sound board operator, projectionist, stage floor manager, crew, fly operator, or other production roles as assigned and may vary by event
  • Operate special effects and/or spotlights
  • Hang and focus lighting equipment
  • Hang drops, legs and scenery
  • Move scenery, props and furniture
  • Assist load-ins and set-ups, as well as load-outs and strikes before and after performances and events
  • Clear and clean the stage and backstage area before and after performances and events
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of a HS Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 1 year of related experience
  • Working knowledge of both light board and sound board programming
  • Ability to work flexible hours which include days, evenings, and weekends

Preferred Qualifications
  • Comfort with ladders and genies for hanging and focusing lighting equipment
  • Basic carpentry skills to assist with the building and setting up scenery
  • Ability to collaborate with teams that produce and present performances and events

Physical Demands

Additional Information
This is a Part-Time per diem position classified as Non-Exempt. The offered pay is based on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
