About The Role:ย 

The Family Wellness Suite Associate I will lead in the orientation and client intake of community members interested in participating inย Family Wellness Suite (FWS)ย programmingย whileย also managingย the promotion and scheduling of clients into specific FWS workshops/events, including the Maternal & Infant Safety Sessions and stress reduction activities (such as perinatal yoga and massage sessions or other sessions led by suite staff.)ย The associate will also lead in the facilitation of the in-house stress reduction programming such as the stress management tools session, community walking group, creative guided sessions, or any other new programming added. This position will also provide administrative support and oversight into the management of the inventory and deliveries of infant safety resources.ย 

About the Program:

The Family Wellness Suites (FWS) were established in 2016 to help tackle the persistent inequities in maternal and infant health that were prevalent in the Bureaus of Neighborhood Health (BNH) catchment areas in the South Bronx, East and Central Harlem, and North and Central Brooklyn. FWS are safe, welcoming, and supportive spaces for family members to receive services, health education, and community resources. FWSs offer prenatal, postpartum, and other social supports aimed at improving maternal and infant health outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide community members with an overview of the FWS programming and services available to them including educational, referral, and resource opportunities
  • Overseetheregular review and maintenance of referring streams including email accounts,phone inboxes, and other platforms likeForms,Unite Us, etc.
  • Processclientreferralsfrom referring organizationsacrossplatformsandfacilitatethis workflowina timelyfashionfollowing the programโ€™s most currentprotocols and using theapprovedtools/platforms.
  • Facilitateintake withnew clientsin order toestablishthem intotheclientdatabase.This includescontacting the client by phone,textand emailas per the workflow protocol.
  • Managethe promotion and scheduling of clients into theappropriate FWSworkshops/events. (e.g.Maternal & Infant Safety Sessions,stress reduction sessions,both led by the vendors and by the suite,diaper appointments, Baby Boutique, etc.)This includes management of anup-to-dateFWS calendarfor the suite.
  • Overseetherecruitmentandmaintenance ofclientregistrationintostressreduction programming forsessionsboththat are led by the vendor andthoseled by the suite. Recruitment includes contacting the client by phone,textand email.
  • Oversee theinventory of infant safety and stress reduction materials ina timelyfashion. This includes updating regularly the inventory tracking sheets and following up on infant safetysupplies orders,as well as managing alldocumentation for dissemination of infant safety resourcesfollowing the current program protocol.
  • Lead in the facilitationand managementofthein-houseinfant safetyeducation sessionand workshops(e.g.safe sleep and car seat safety sessions)and the in-house stress reduction programming includingthestress managementtoolssession,communitywalking group,and the creative guided sessionsthat includecrafting, guided meditation,DIY sugar scrubs,or any other new programming added for this part of the work.
  • Support otherBrooklynFWS programming aswell as larger FWS programmingin thecityas necessary.
  • Other duties as assignedby supervisor and FWS leadership to support the overall goals and mission of the department/ organization.ย ย 

Requirements:ย 

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Public Health, or relevant field of study;ย 

  • Strong understanding of and commitment to birth equityand public health.

  • Experience working with community members andorganizations.

  • Experienceproviding instruction in perinatal support, through childbirth education, breastfeeding education, perinatal exercise groups, parenting classes, and/or similar programs.

  • Understanding of and experiencewithcommunity developmentaroundhealth issues in urban, underserved neighborhoods.

  • Comfortable working in a community setting with diverse populations.

  • Strong coordination and organizational skills.

  • Detail oriented and able to manage projectsand work independently.

  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and excellent interpersonal and team player skills.

  • Proficient withMicrosoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Open to flexible work hours, including some work in the evenings and/or on weekends.

  • Hold certification as a Certified Lactation Consultant or have interest in pursuing this certification.

  • Bilingual(Spanish)

  • Must be able tolift upto 30 pounds
