A Job Specialist plays a critical role in providing instruction and coaching for individuals enrolled in job readiness training.
Job Specialist (Mission)
Goodwill Industries of the Southern Rivers - Newnan, GA
The Mission Services division is currently seeking a Job Specialist with excellent interpersonal skills. The Job Specialist will work with individuals with barriers to include those with disabilities or disadvantages. The Job specialist provides training, planning, organization, implementation, and evaluation assistance to the individuals served at the training centers.
Goodwill Industries of the Southern Rivers, Inc.'s Job Specialist responsibilities:
  • Hands-on Training - Supervises and guides hands-on training for specific skills areas such as (but not limited to): custodial, food service, retail, warehouse, and healthcare.
  • Conducts training, observes the trainee's performance, and facilitates the tools or knowledge necessary to attain results.
  • Identifies and teaches the use of assistive technology or accommodations needed for the participant to perform successfully once hired.
  • Facilitates direct instruction for Individuals to gain the soft skills needed to obtain and retain a job.
  • Instructs at different functioning levels to accommodate lessons to serve the needs of the population in training.
  • Serves as the primary instructor for certification programs.
  • Conducts all safety training and monitor all building maintenance and reports all safety issues.
  • Assists in developing presentations and classes for instruction of specific work skills
  • Assists participants with completing intake packets and orientation to services-documents significant narratives and case notes of participant's observations and behavior during training in a timely manner
  • Consults and discusses cases in treatment team meetings
  • Provides front desk coverage or class instruction for employees who are absent.
  • Assists with resume preparation, mock interviews, and preparing participants for interviews, as needed.
  • Maintains the class supply inventory and informs the team or manager for orders placed.

Requirements:
  • Level of knowledge normally gained through completion of an undergraduate degree
  • Four years' experience
  • Able to communicate both written and verbally with diverse audience.
  • Possess strong computer skills.
  • Requires the ability to meet the needs of individuals with disabilities on an academic and job training level.
