Job Summary

We are seeking an Animal Care Technician I for our Insourcing Solutions site in Chicago, IL
In the Animal Care Technician role, you will perform daily animal health observations, as well as animal husbandry duties to include water bottle/line and cage checks, provide food/water, and perform cage changes and/or clean cages all to maintain the quality and health of research animals.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Maintain accurate records of things like animal breeding, as well as housing or support areas, and you may also be tasked with receiving, inspection, and housing of incoming animals.
  • Assist with restraint, handling, and manipulation of animal species, and you may become involved in the animal breeding and weaning procedures.
  • Other duties may include monitoring personnel and equipment entry into various rooms, operating required equipment and general housekeeping, when required. 
Job Qualifications

The following are the minimum requirements related to the Animal Care Technician I position:

  • Associates degree and 6 months of animal handling, care, and husbandry experience.
  • Or Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in biology or animal science or related field and zero experience in animal handling, husbandry experience.
  • Achieving ALAT certification upon eligibility.  

The pay range for this position is $20.25 per hour.
