The NCGA has roughly 200,000 members who belong to more than 1,300 member clubs throughout Northern California. The NCGA vision is "to ensure the game is vibrant, inclusive, and accessible" and is focused on enhancing the lives of Northern California golfers by helping them enjoy the benefits of golf for a lifetime. As a key partner with the USGA, the NCGA provides its members with official handicap indexes and helps oversee several critical governance areas for the game of golf. The NCGA owns and operates two golf courses (Poppy Hills and Poppy Ridge), conducts more than 650 days of golf events each year, including championships and competitive golf tournaments for all abilities, and casual golf outings and trips. The NCGA also publishes NCGA Golf magazine, NCGA PLUS digital magazine, and secures exclusive member discounts on products and services. Through the NCGA Foundation, the NCGA is supporting youth golfers at every stage of their journey-from first swings, to access through Youth on Course, to competitive play and lifelong engagement.
Position: Manager, Junior Golf
Status: Exempt
Reports to: Director, Junior Golf
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Manager of Junior Golf is responsible for overseeing the administrative and operational functions that support Junior Golf programs. This includes managing tournament administration, including the entry process, player points, course procurement/contracts, awards and assisting in the administration for the USNDP Team NorCal Program; ensuring tournament information is accurately maintained within NCGA internal systems; overseeing responses to member inquiries; and directing general administrative processes to support efficient program delivery. This position reports to the Director, Junior Golf and is expected to work collaboratively with other employees to achieve results. This person works independently with general supervision and occasionally makes independent decisions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for the administration of New Pathway Tour Junior events & NCGA Juniors events as assigned on an annual basis. This includes pre-tournament visits and preparations of player pairings, information sheets, local rules, committee assignments, course set-up and on-site supervision for all events assigned.
  • Assists the JTNC Championship Tour, Pathway Tour & NCGA Juniors points programs. Review results for accuracy, maintaining current point standings, ongoing evaluation of on-site tournament administration and making recommendations to the Director for policy changes of the current systems.
  • Provides assistance to the USNDP Team NorCal Program with special projects as needed. This includes updating policies, points programs, assisting with in-person team camp, communication with Committee members, team players, parents, team captain & coach.
  • Assist Director of Junior Golf on executing new programing through Junior Strategic Plan & Coordination with NCGA Foundation. Examples include working with the NCGA Foundation and NCPGA on putting together teaching clinics.
  • Manages the Junior Tour Points Program that determines the Junior Players of the Year (Boy and Girl). This includes reviewing results for accuracy and maintaining current points standings.
  • Enhances relations with other junior golf associations and is an ambassador for the NCGA with junior participants and their parents.
  • Provides expertise and support to outside tournaments as assigned.
  • Provides assistance to the NCGA Operations team and/or the USNDP Team NorCal Program with special projects as needed.

Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • GED and/or 2-3 years of related experience.
  • Strong knowledge of golf tournament formats and the rules of golf.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, meet deadlines, and a strong work ethic
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented work environment as well as work well individually with general supervision.
  • Strong communication skills, both orally and in writing. Ability to communicate effectively with guests, management, vendors/suppliers, the general public and other employees of the NCGA. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must have reliable transportation, valid driver's license and provide proof of insurance. The job requires travel as necessary with overnight stays.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • NCGA/USGA rules certified. If not already, required to be within the first 2-3 years of employment.
  • Previous experience with Blue Golf Software.
  • Knowledge of and passion for the game of golf (strongly preferred).

WORK SCHEDULE:
  • During the tournament off-season, the schedule is typically Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm.
  • During the tournament season, nights and weekends will be required, with the ability to flex schedule as appropriate.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
This is a full-time, Exempt position, with a targeted salary of $70,300 to $75,000 annually. Some clothing will be provided, with the employee expected to source and maintain a high-standard of attire at all times. Benefit package includes health, dental and vision insurance. Dependents may be added with premiums paid by the employee. Participation in the company's 401k plan, including company match after one full year of employment. PTO, holidays, meals, and golf benefits also included.
