Job description

About The Sorrel River Ranch Experience

Sorrel River Ranch is a place where guests and staff come together through a shared love of good food, genuine connection, and the beauty of Moab. Along the Colorado River, surrounded by red-rock cliffs and endless adventure, we create experiences rooted in ranch life—fresh, locally grown ingredients, restorative moments, unforgettable adventures, and opportunities to slow down and appreciate the incredible world around us.

We’re looking for a warm, confident, and hospitality-minded Bartender who knows that a great drink is only part of the experience. At Sorrel, you’ll help create the kind of relaxed, genuine atmosphere that makes guests feel welcome from their first pour to their last goodbye.

If you love great service, enjoy connecting with people, and take pride in creating something beautiful and delicious, come be part of the Sorrel team.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Our Bartenders help shape the heart of the guest experience by providing thoughtful, knowledgeable, and engaging beverage service.

You’ll prepare and present cocktails, beer, wine, and other beverages while supporting the restaurant team and helping create a polished but welcoming environment that reflects the spirit of Sorrel River Ranch.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Create a warm, welcoming experience for every guest.
  • Greet guests promptly and provide friendly, attentive service throughout their visit.
  • Set up the bar each day, ensuring beer, wine, spirits, garnishes, glassware, and supplies are fully stocked and ready for service.
  • Prepare fresh juices, fruits, garnishes, syrups, and other ingredients.
  • Mix and present cocktails and beverages consistently and beautifully.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of the bar menu, wines, spirits, beers, and ingredients.
  • Answer guest questions and make thoughtful beverage recommendations.
  • Accurately enter orders and charges through the TOAST POS system.
  • Handle guest checks, payments, and billing with care and accuracy.
  • Support the restaurant team with food service, hosting, and other guest-service needs when necessary.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, polished, and guest-ready bar throughout the shift.
  • Follow all state, federal, and Sorrel River Ranch alcohol-service requirements.
  • Follow responsible alcohol-service practices and use good judgment at all times.
  • Complete end-of-shift closing duties, including securing beverages and equipment, cleaning, restocking, and organizing the bar.
  • Communicate effectively with servers, culinary, management, and other departments.
  • Help fellow team members deliver an exceptional guest experience.
  • Remain flexible and step into other areas of the operation when the ranch needs you.
  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for someone who brings personality, professionalism, and genuine hospitality to the bar.

The ideal candidate is:

  • Warm, personable, and comfortable engaging with guests.
  • Confident behind the bar and passionate about creating great beverages.
  • Knowledgeable about wine, spirits, beer, and classic cocktails.
  • Comfortable working in a luxury hospitality environment.
  • Detail-oriented and committed to consistency.
  • Calm and organized during busy service periods.
  • A strong communicator and dependable team player.
  • Comfortable working independently while knowing when to ask for support.
  • Someone who takes pride in cleanliness, presentation, and doing things the right way.
  • Naturally curious and willing to continue learning.
  • Excited by the opportunity to work somewhere that combines luxury hospitality with authentic ranch life and the outdoors.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous bartending experience in a hotel, restaurant, resort, or similar environment.
  • Experience with fine-dining or luxury-service standards preferred.
  • General knowledge of wine, spirits, beer, and cocktails.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Food Handler certification required.
  • Alcohol Awareness certification required.
  • Familiarity with TOAST POS preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good judgment and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexible availability, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

WHY SORREL?

At Sorrel, the bar is more than a place to grab a drink. It’s a place where guests share stories after a day on the river, celebrate special moments, meet new people, and unwind beneath the red-rock cliffs.

You’ll be part of a team that believes hospitality should feel genuine—not scripted.

If you’re passionate about great drinks, great service, and creating memorable moments in an extraordinary place, we’d love to meet you.

Limited rental housing may be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Only applicants selected for interviews will be contacted. Applicants must already have legal authorization to work in the United States.

Sorrel River Ranch Resort & Spa is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
