Position Summary
The Learning Experience of Winchester is seeking two passionate, dependable, and experienced Toddler Lead Teachers to join our team.
Our Lead Teachers play an important role in creating a safe, nurturing, engaging, and educational environment where our Little Learners can learn, play, and grow. The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for early childhood education and be able to provide loving care while implementing The Learning Experience's curriculum and maintaining a high-quality classroom environment.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must:
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Have a minimum of 6 months of supervised experience working with children in a licensed childcare or early childhood setting
  • 1 year or more of early childhood education experience is strongly preferred
  • Previous experience working with toddlers is strongly preferred
  • Meet all Virginia licensing requirements for a Program Leader/Lead Teacher position
  • Be able to successfully complete all required background checks
  • Be willing to complete all required health, safety, and professional-development training
  • CPR and First Aid certification is preferred; candidate must be willing to obtain required certifications if not already certified
  • CDA, Early Childhood Education certificate, or college coursework in Early Childhood Education is preferred

Lead Teacher Responsibilities
The Toddler Lead Teacher will:
  • Provide a safe, loving, nurturing, and positive classroom environment
  • Implement The Learning Experience's L.E.A.P.® curriculum and daily lesson plans
  • Create engaging, developmentally appropriate learning experiences through play, music, movement, art, language, and hands-on exploration
  • Support children's social, emotional, cognitive, language, fine-motor, and gross-motor development
  • Maintain active supervision of children at all times
  • Follow all required child-to-teacher ratios and Virginia licensing standards
  • Maintain consistent classroom routines and schedules
  • Assist children with meals, diapering, toilet learning, handwashing, rest time, transitions, and other daily-care needs
  • Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and welcoming classroom
  • Complete required classroom documentation and daily child-care information
  • Communicate professionally and positively with parents and families regarding their child's day, development, and progress
  • Build strong relationships with children, families, coworkers, and school leadership
  • Work cooperatively with assistant teachers and provide positive classroom leadership
  • Follow all TLE policies and procedures regarding health, safety, supervision, curriculum, and confidentiality
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, professional development, and school events
  • Bring energy, creativity, patience, and positivity to the classroom each day
