Job description

Quietflex Manufacturing, a member of Daikin Industries LTD. is seeking a professional, skilled individual Duct Machine Operator. Quietflex Manufacturing is the leading manufacturer and supplier of flexible ductwork for residential and commercial HVAC systems, as well as fiberglass mats for industrial applications. As a vital component of indoor comfort, Quietflex Manufacturing has a robust line that includes a wide variety of specialized products designed to provide the best solutions to the needs of its many customers.

Operates the insulation machine to perform the assembly of the product (Flexible Duct) to specifications. The operator performs changeovers, checks for correct material, labels, fills out the 1st article inspection sheet, scrap reporting, gap analysis sheet and runs efficiently. The operator will also follow the production schedule for their line.

Position Responsibilities May Include:

  • Follow the production schedule given by the crew chief.
  • Inspect the line to verify the raw materials are the correct ones (insulation, core, jacket, and UL labels) according to the product specification sheets.
  • Fill out duct line operator first article & safety log and GAP analysis sheets.
  • Make the necessary changes to Mandrel, glass guide basket, and UL labels for product changes when necessary.
  • Adjust the label gun to the date code corresponding to the date.
  • Load the core tray with core, foil (silver) jackets onto machine table or black jacker onto reel holder, and load insulation into the insulation feeder machine.
  • Put the jackets on the Mandrel and start the jacket winder.
  • Operate the Duct Machine.
  • Roll the product to the bagger when complete.
  • Maintain area and always keep clean.
  • Perform additional projects/duties to support ongoing business needs.

  • Work is closely supervised 

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Ability to read and write English. 
  • Ability to communicate with supervisors and crew chiefs. 
  • Basic math skills to include addition, subtraction, and multiplication. 
  • Ability to work independently. 
  • Detail oriented. 
  • Must have quick hands. 
  • Ability to apply good judgement, strong work ethics and integrity on the job.

Competency:

Experience:

  • Prior machine operator experience preferred but not mandatory.

Education/Certification:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

People Management: No

Physical Requirements / Work Environment:

  • Must be able to perform essential responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Manufacturing environment with forklift traffic.
  • PPE required: steel toed safety shoes, safety glasses with side shields, and gloves.
  • Job requires standing (up to 90%), walking (up to 10%), stooping or bending, reaching, twisting and turning.
  • Lifting, carrying, and pushing up to 40 lbs.
  • Hand Eye Coordination, handling tools and other objects (holding, grasping), repetitive wrist motion (flexion/rotation), and repetitive foot movements (Foot Pedals).
