Job description
Overview
What if your career could truly amplify purpose - both for you and for those you serve? As a Speech Language Pathologist in the vibrant city of Lexington, your contributions will extend far beyond treating communication and swallowing disorders. You will have the ability to unlock doors of opportunity, restore self-assurance, and foster meaningful connections - whether it's guiding toddlers as they navigate their first words or assisting seniors in recovering their independence.
This position presents a rare chance to work with a diverse range of individuals, spanning from children to adults, within a dynamic environment that combines outpatient therapy with the occasional need for inpatient support. Whether your passion lies in pediatric language acquisition, adult neurogenic communication challenges, or geriatric cognitive rehabilitation, you'll discover satisfaction and versatility here.
Job Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients employing standardized assessments and observational techniques.
- Craft tailored treatment plans that target both immediate objectives and long-term communication, cognitive, or swallowing needs.
- Deliver personalized speech therapy interventions with a focus on language, fluency, voice, and swallowing abilities.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including physical therapists, occupational therapists, nursing staff, physicians, and family members to design cohesive care approaches.
- Equip patients and their families with educational resources to support their progress beyond clinical appointments.
- Participate in occasional inpatient speech therapy assessments and interventions, ensuring seamless continuity of care.
- Maintain meticulous documentation that complies with state, federal, and organizational standards.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and stay informed about the latest advancements in the field through continuing education and collaborative efforts.
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
- Completion of a supervised Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if not yet ASHA-certified.
- State licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist.
- ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within 30 days of employment.
- Expertise in evidence-based treatment modalities for various age groups, along with a strong grasp of developmental and acquired speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
- Exceptional interpersonal communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and diverse care teams.
- Flexibility in adapting therapy techniques to cater to different cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
- Strong clinical reasoning and problem-solving capabilities.
- Proficient in electronic medical records and relevant documentation practices.
- Competitive earnings that reflect your experience.
- Flexibility in scheduling to promote work-life equilibrium and a varied caseload.
- Chance to specialize in pediatrics, adult neuro rehabilitation, or geriatrics.
- Generous paid time off (PTO) and holiday remuneration.
- Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance options.
- Financial support for continuing education and professional growth opportunities.
- A collaborative, team-oriented ethos centered on quality care and lifelong learning.
A Career That Evolves with You
In this role, you will not only provide speech therapy - you will become part of a community-focused mission to restore voices, enhance communication, and create moments of joy through the simplest human acts of connecting with others.
Here, you will work alongside colleagues who treat one another like family, in an environment that values collaboration over competition. Each patient has a narrative; we will rely on you to help shape how it's told.
Why You'll Adore Living and Working Here
The essence of life in Lexington reflects a dynamic blend of innovation and warm hospitality. With its picturesque parks, thriving arts scene, and engaging culinary offerings, this city serves as a sanctuary for those seeking a harmonious balance between nature, culture, and career aspirations.
Breathe in the fresh air while strolling through beautifully maintained gardens or enjoying outdoor concerts in the park. For the adventurous, there are hiking trails winding through lush landscapes and opportunities for kayaking on serene waters. Culinary adventurers will delight in a culinary landscape that features everything from cozy diners to upscale restaurants celebrating Kentucky's rich flavors.
The area pulsates with creativity, visible in artistic murals, lively music venues, and community events that bring together a vibrant tapestry of residents. Plus, for professionals, the advantages extend beyond lifestyle - no state income tax, reasonable living expenses, and a flourishing healthcare sector make this region an ideal place to nurture both your career and personal ambitions.
Whether you are just starting your career or are an experienced professional eager to explore new horizons, you will find the opportunity to thrive both personally and professionally here.
Who We're On The Lookout For
We are looking for a Speech Language Pathologist who is not only outcome-oriented but also filled with compassion. Someone who sees a quiet child and envisions a bright future of self-expression, or who hears the hesitant words of a stroke survivor and feels that spark of determination.
You might be a pediatric expert eager to extend your reach into adult services - or a neuro-focused clinician excited to embrace early intervention.
Whatever your specialty, if your heart is set on serving with empathy and leading with skill, we would be delighted to have you on board.
Let's Discover the Right Voice Together
If you believe that speech transcends mere sound, that therapy is beyond just tasks - if you see the value in building trust as a foundation for achieving goals, and enjoy laughter as much as language, then this role may very well mark the next chapter in your professional journey.
Join us in an environment that celebrates communication, connection, and the bravery it takes to begin anew. Apply now to lend your voice to our team - and assist others in discovering theirs.
