The Homestead at Rochester is part of Volunteers of America National Services which serves as the Housing and Healthcare affiliate of the Volunteers of America parent organization.

Compensation: $20.00-22.00 per hour based on years of experience.
Shift: M-F with every other weekend 11am-7:00pm

• Maintains excellent relationships with the residents, resident family members, guests, peers and
management.
• Works with the Chef and Director of Dining Services in suggesting nutritious and top quality food for
residents and guests.
• Implements and maintains new culinary and service programs in conjunction with the culinary team.
• Trains and maintains a high standard for dining room and other food service venues.
• Manages with a “can do” attitude adhering to our service vision of “Exceptional Care. World Class
Hospitality” and to our Core Standards of C.A.R.E. (Courtesy, Attention to Detail, Responsiveness and
Enthusiasm).
• Maintains visibility during meal times by seating and greeting residents, addresses any concerns, and
ensures that their needs have been met.
• Responds to and resolves any resident or guest complaints regarding their experience in the dining
room.
• Schedules and assigns tasks to the servers, including assigning of tables and side and closing duties.
• Directs and monitors Servers, Baristas and Café Attendant, including, uniform and personal appearance,
customer service and proper food handling techniques.
• Trains servers, Barista and Café Attendant on all operating procedures and menu education.
• Ensures floor charts and tables are set up correctly.
• Assist servers as needed by performing such tasks as pouring coffee and water.
• Assists department staff with processing invoices and inventories.
• Checks menus for accuracy.
• Oversees the processing of guest meal charges in a timely manner.
• Assists with orientation and training of new Dining staff.
• Hires, terminates and coaches all Servers, Baristas and Café Staff.
• Completes all HR paperwork for hiring, performance reviews and terminations.
• Supervises the processing of department payroll.
• Has knowledge of catering program and is backup for Lead Server and catering events and assists
Dining Department in preparing and set-up of all special events.
• Supervises all activity in all Dining venues.
• Practices all safety and loss prevention procedures.
• Maintains or exceeds standards of appearance, cleanliness, personal sanitation and hygiene.
• Attends all in-services as required.
• Attends culinary and dining service-related meetings.
• Performs pre meal before meal service.
• Conducts annual service reviews and in-services.
• Maintain ServSafe Certification
• Responsible for alcohol ordering and inventory.
• Orders soda products for café and barista.
• Meet with new residents to review dining procedures/menus within a month of move in.
• Other duties as assigned by the Department Director.
Educational Requirements and Experience:
• High school diploma required. College degree in Hospitality-related field is preferred.
• Two (2) to four (4) years of food service experience required.
• CCRC dining experience required. Resort and/or country club experience a plus.
• Strong leadership and communication skills a must.
• Multi point of service experience a plus to manage retail, event and dining room service.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Available to work flexible hours that may include early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.
