Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

The Program Participant, CW STEP (Colorado Works Subsidized Training and Employment Program) is a statewide program administered by the Colorado Department of Human Services. The goal of this program is to assist Colorado Works recipients in attaining living-wage, permanent jobs through employment opportunities with subsidized wages, including transitional jobs. CW STEP aims to address the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) with the purpose of reducing the dependency of Colorado Works parents by promoting job preparation and work.

  • Receive paid, on-the-job training and support up to 40 hours per week for 12 weeks while working to overcome any barriers to employment you've been facing.
  • During the transitional employment program, you'll earn the prevailing wage along with continuing your TANF benefits to bring stability to your day-to-day life.
  • Gain marketable skills working in diverse and in-demand industries.
  • Learn about current job opening and secure permanent job placement while continuing to receive ongoing support.
  • Be a part of stimulating the local economies by improving the economic health of Colorado.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • General positions may include patient care, activities assistant, dietary/kitchen, warehouse, retail/customer service, stocking, sorting, basic maintenance, donations, front desk/administrative, food pantry*.

  • A Referral from your Colorado Works Workforce Case Manager is required.
  • Eligible Clients: An eligible client is an individual who is eligible to receive Colorado Works Basic Cash Assistance (BCA) and who is deemed appropriate for and can benefit from CW STEP based on their Colorado Works assessment. Adults receiving BCA and age appropriate/work ready children may receive services through CW STEP. Parents, step-parents, and youth are all eligible, as are work-required and non-work-required household members who are recipients of the BCA grant.
