OVERVIEW
Marc Jacobs International, powered by the creative genius of Marc Jacobs, seeks a Global Controller to join our Finance team based in its New York City (SoHo) headquarters. Marc Jacobs International designs and produces accessories, ready-to-wear, and footwear and distributes worldwide in wholesale and direct to consumer retail markets.
The Controller is responsible for all accounting, reporting, financial operations, tax and internal control functions for the global Marc Jacobs business. This exciting role is positioned within our global Marc Jacobs HQ and as such provides a bold opportunity for global impact, management and organization.  The position is competitively compensated with a full benefits package.
The position reports to the Chief Financial Officer and manages four teams/individuals focused on Internal Control and Risk Management, Financial Operations, Accounting, and Reporting / Tax.  The Controller will be directly engaged in the hands-on management of the USA and Canada entities of Marc Jacobs while engaged in oversight for subsidiary entities worldwide. Finally, the Controller ensures the policies and procedures of the company are understood and deployed consistently within Marc Jacobs.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • BS / Masters focused on accounting (must have)
  • CPA or CMA (preference, not required)
  • 10-15 years experience preferably including a combination of public accounting and corporate environments
  • Experience within both IFRS and USGAAP framework will be valuable
  • Experience in managing and/or demonstrated understanding of:
  • Internal control frameworks covering treasury, financial operations, inventory, commercial sales (retail + wholesale), etc…
  • Risk management including insurance coverage declarations, filing and following insurance claims, risk mitigation
  • Financial operations including credit management, AR / AP / Treasury operation and cash management
  • Accounting principles, management of related systems of record, P&L and Balance sheet management, oversight and review
  • Financial reporting norms, systems and consolidations
  • Regulatory and tax reporting and management at USA, states and local levels
  • Highly skilled in active observation, root cause analysis and written/oral communication
  • Must be able to effectively communicate across all levels of the MJ organization with the ability to influence change
  • Must have strong working knowledge of Excel with strong preference for candidates with ERP solutions like: Oracle JDE, SAP or Microsoft Dynamics D365
  • Must maintain integrity throughout work product balancing attention to detail with a connection to the big picture and coach the team in the same
  • Provide support for ad-hoc requests from senior management, the FP&A team or the business operations teams; we view financial operations as a customer service environment with many internal customers

SALARY & BENEFITS
The compensation for this position ranges from $200,000-$250,000 (annually). The rate of pay offered will be dependent upon candidate’s relevant skills and experience. Marc Jacobs uses the published salary range as a guideline to provide our employees with market competitive pay while allowing for flexibility to recognize and reward all levels of expertise, performance, and tenure.
