Job description

Blast Technician / Material Handler (Manufacturing) - 2nd Shift to join our federal team at our York, PA (Grantly Plant) location. Responsible for maintaining a safe clean, and organized 6S environment. Understanding the criticality of proper quality-controlled documentation. Responsible for operating various powered equipment. Responsible for maintaining forklift certification. Accountable for adhering to and promoting compliance with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) protocols to ensure a safe and compliant work environment.

As a Blast Technician / Material Handler, you will:
  • Working from complex mechanical drawings
    • Preparing parts and other products from prints, standard work, and routers
    • Working with cross-functional teams
  • Workmanship
    • Document quality-controlled tasks
    • Proper handling of finished product
    • Proper preparation of a machined surface finish and M number before blast
    • Maintaining shot blast centers
  • Blast
    • Proper PPE required to operate the blast centers
      • Maintaining PPE equipment, cleaning and sanitizing following use
    • Maintaining blast centers
    • Check levels of the blast filtration system
    • Protection of any openings, threaded holes, heat/slab numbers and machined surfaces
    • Proper placement of material in work centers
  • Material Handling
    • Making sure Work In Process (WIP) material is staged at the proper stations
    • Transporting inbound/outbound work center material
    • Operating forklifts
    • Transporting product on the Rico - Training required
    • Proper rigging of various products - Overhead crane/jib crane - Training required
    • Stage blasted parts on shadowed carts/skids
  • Other tasks
    • Dumping of metal hoppers
    • Weighing refrigerant tanks
    • Moving fixturing and other non-inventory items

Required Qualifications:
  • 1-5 years of related experience in manufacturing
    • Blast experience
    • Material handling
    • Shipping/Receiving
  • 1-5 years of experience in forklift driving
  • Technical knowledge
  • Communication skills
  • Time management skills

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certified forklift, pendent control overhead crane operator.
  • Accuracy in identifying, counting, maintaining records.
  • Read, write, add, subtract decimals, fractions, simple use of prints, move tickets, bills of materials, requisitions, CRT transactions.
