Job description

Excellent opportunity for a mixed animal practitioner in southwest Missouri!
  • Multi-generational, highly collaborative, team-based approach
  • True mixed-animal medicine with ample learning opportunities
  • Client relationships built on trust and mutual respect

Animal Clinic of Monett (Monett, MO) When you envision a traditional rural practice that serves as the foundation for pet and livestock care in its community, think about the Animal Clinic of Monett! In true James Herriot fashion, fill your days with a dynamic mix of species, cases, and clients. Yet, unlike Dr. Herriot, you'll practice with modern technology and a full support team around you! And when you're not at workโ€”experience all that the Ozark Plateau has to offer!

About Us

The Animal Clinic of Monett has been in the community since 1989, founded by Drs. Ted and Carol Dahlstrom. Dr. Ted's expertise and deep ties to Southwest Missouri's cattle community, along with his devotion to clients, have been the driving legacy of ACM.

Dr. John Harper (Missouri '88) joined ACM in 1994 and is easily recognized by his signature cowboy hat and boots. A versatile mixed animal practitioner, he is especially skilled in small animal orthopedic surgery and loves caring for horses and cattle.

Dr. John Tyra (Mississippi State '10) joined ACM after graduating. Raised on a farm in Guntown, Mississippi, he specializes in beef and dairy production medicine and bovine reproduction โ€” and is now stepping into the practice leadership role Dr. Ted built, continuing ACM's commitment to a highly collaborative team.

Dr. Rachael Kluppel (Mississippi State '26) joined ACM this year as a new graduate, bringing fresh energy and enthusiasm to the team as she begins her veterinary career. One to two additional new-grad associates are expected to join the practice in spring 2026, continuing ACM's investment in growing the next generation of talent.

ACM is in an exciting season of growth. As part of our partnership with Heritage Vet Partners, a certified executive coach has been working directly with our team to support strong leadership and a positive, forward-looking culture through this transition โ€” an investment that reflects how seriously we take both our people and our clients.

Our technicians and administrative support team are especially strong for a rural practice โ€” experienced, capable, and a real reason our doctors can focus on medicine rather than managing every detail themselves.

We believe that relationships are crucial for success and are truly blessed to have clients who are progressive, trusting, and willing to go the extra mile. We have built the practice on mutual respect and a shared desire for positive outcomes.

About This Role

Here are some of the essential skills we are seeking relevant to this opportunity:

  • Comfort with both small and large animals
  • Entry-level bovine palpation/ultrasound skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize attention when facing immediate challenges
About You

In addition to your expected talent and skill as a veterinarian, these are the personal qualities that are important to us and align with our practice culture:

  • Confident, experienced clinician who thrives with autonomy
  • Outgoing and personable attitude
  • Ability to laugh at yourself, even if you make a mistake
  • Willing to receive communication and feedback
  • Excited to be part of a practice actively investing in its people and its future
Our Location

Southwest Missouri is a playground for outdoor lovers. Monett sits within easy reach of Table Rock Lake, Beaver Lake, and Bransonโ€”meaning boating, fishing, hiking, and live entertainment are all just a short drive away, alongside the natural beauty of the Ozark Plateau. Monett itself (population 10,000) is conveniently located within an hour's drive of Joplin (population 50,000) and Springfield (population 125,000), ensuring ready access to bigger-city amenities without giving up small-town life. Within Monett, you'll find several dining options, a newly constructed hospital, and numerous employment opportunities for non-veterinary family members.

Our Offer
  • Full-Time Salary Range ($90,000 โ€“ $120,000), plus commission potential based on caseload
  • Soft tissue surgical caseload supports upper end of range for qualified candidates
  • Professional Dues: 3 per year
  • Professional liability provided
  • CE Allowance: $3000 biennial
  • PTO: 15 days/year
  • Full Benefits Package (Health, Dental, Vision, STD, LTD, Life, Accident, + more!)
  • 401K with employer match (after 90 days)
  • Up to eight weeks PAID parental leave* (after 6 months)
  • Accelerated ownership opportunity with our Associate Equity Program!
